Hopefully one of the groups working to eradicate ice plant will make it to this area soon.

I was not aware that this initiative existed. I hope for the same.

@@GeneralApathyWhat were all those things when you flipped the mouse? I've heard that what you call "sand fleas" on the west coast are completely different than what are called "sand fleas" on the east coast (a crustacean... maybe like a mole crab) lmao Were those west coast sand fleas?

Fun "Fact": The blue tint on the garter snake evolved so that the snake will have natural anterior camouflage against the sky in case it evolves wings suddenly

I’m from a town named Marina about 25-30 miles down the coast from where you are in this video. I grew up finding these in the sandy, dusty soil all the time. My grandpa would call them legless lizards but he’d also call them glass snakes even though Glass snakes are different if I’m not mistaken.

glass snake (lizard) is another name for legless lizards I believe

I wonder if this animals body is adapted to drink saltwater being that its habitat is so close to the ocean.

I'm wondering if the knoby rear of the lizard doesn't grow back because it kind of mimics the head of the lizard and confuses predators. Although I'm not sure if there are many predators that visually hunt them due to there subterranean nature.

This is a good hypothesis.

Just yesterday my wife's friend was outside planting things and found a bunch of these living underneath one of the bushes in front of our house And I kept 2 of them Basically a fully grown adult and a small little blue one
@GeneralApathy
@GeneralApathy 2 года назад
The blue one was probably in shed. I advise against keeping them in captivity because it is illegal. All US Anniella species are federally protected.

@@Shaggy420. Google "Native Reptile Captive Propagation Laws and Regulations" and download the PDF from the government website. It provides you with all the information you need.
