Hi friends!
Thank you so much for 101K subscribers! Some Q&A videos are coming soon - while I edit those, here's a question I've been asked a lot. How do I stay positive while dealing with the stresses of relocating to a new country alone? I hope this video helps some of you who are considering moving overseas. If you have any more questions, feel free to leave me a comment!

Nice video! I moved to China half a year ago to study for my Master's degree and have been struggling so much. The language barrier was not a problem, it's a culture difference. And it's not easy for me to make friends.

Great advice from your mother - throwing all the bread in the water (it sounded so much better when you said it in the original Afrikaans!). For people of faith, I think it is the best way, because it's hard to know His will. We have to open all the doors in front of us to see which one leads to the path that was prepared. Thanks for sharing your experiences!

I COMPLETELY AGREE! I studied abroad in Korea for a semester and having been into Korean culture for so long I thought I knew exactly what it would be like and I was hit so hard with culture shock. It took a lot of getting used to, but now I want to go back and I know what I'm going into this time! :)

If i manage to get my student visa, I'll move to Japan in September and I'm so excited but also really scared. I've never lived alone, not even in my country (Italy) and that's why I'm so scared but I guess it's gonna be a beautiful experience, not only because I'm gonna study Japanese, but also becuase I'm gonna learn ho to "survive" on my own and how to become an adult. Your videos are always full of good tips and knowing that you and other people are facing the difficulties of moving abroad just like I am is reassuring. We're all in this together!

Loved this video. I'm thinking to go to Korea for a film university program, but I'm actually terrified at the same time as I want to go. And all I can do is trust God to guide my path just as you said. The hardest part for me though is that idk if my expectations are even too high because I have no clue What to really expect since I've never {really} been there but I still want to hope for the best 😅❤ either way, have a great day Lindie!

I relate to this a lot, I've moved to Germany and then Sweden, and while making friends in Sweden was easy since I'm a student, I felt very lonely in Germany because I was working and people my age still went to high school. I just learnt to enjoy my own company, in a way. I called my family regularly, as well as my friends and I made amazing internet friends, which in a way helped me get through it (and I eventually made an irl friend yay!). I never felt that being in another country was hard, because my struggles didn't come from being abroad but rather my job, so I'd encourage anyone who has the opportunity to just go for it! The meetup.com idea is really good, you can find people based on your interests, also look at facebook groups, and if you have to learn the language then you'll meet people if you join courses!

Thank you so much for your sharing. I am struggling with exactly that situation right now. I am from Korea, living in the US now. Since I couldn’t get an internship here yet, I cannot decide where to move. Actually nobody wants to take me only for a month until I get a job. The owners want me to show my income or job or want me to stay longer. But I can’t. I moved 3 times in two weeks, feel like a homeless. On the other hand, I met many nice people here so they tried to provide me housing for few days, so I can have some time to look for my housing for a while. I am really thankful to them and hope to get my situation better soon.

Hopefully going to be studying in Russia come September. It will be the furthest east I have ever been in Europe (Tatarstan), and I've never been to Russia before. I've lived abroad before, but I had some pretty bad experiences which resulted in me being very homesick and staying in my room a lot. I'm worried that I'm going to do the same in Russia. Another thing is their academic calendar for first semester ends on Christmas Day (non-orthodox), so I'm potentially looking at spending both Christmas and New Year away from family (I normally spend New Year with my cousin and his friends). I have never been away from family at either Christmas or New Year.

I can relate fully. I recently moved to Ireland and I believe I was meant to be there. But it's hard ofc because I get really lonely at times. I am thinking about joining clubs and let myself go. I have nice co-workers which is good. Right now I have to move to another flat because my landlady is a bit crazy. The bureaucracy is also very annoying when moving to a new country. I'm positive that things will turn out well though!

@@sage7296 It's not easy. There isn't much on offer and it's expensive as there is a housing crisis. I live in Dublin and you usually have to pay at least 600€/month for a room and at least 1500€ for an apartment. So you need a well-payed job to be able to afford a whole apartment.
