This is my first dev log for trying to recreate battlefront 2 2005. I am using unity and the Space Combat kit to get started along with unities first person controller.
Help get this built by contributing there!

Me too! This video was created early 2023 and I have advanced a lot since then. Hopefully we can have a demo runnint in a few months.

I've always wondered why space battles (or galactic conquest for that matter) never got its flowers, or a good remake. It was such a good concept, I also enjoy it to this day. Aside from that, when it comes to you in general, this is nothing to scoff at. I couldn't manage to get any of my friends to put any real effort into anything, even if it was their own ideas. I dont even like making games in particular, I just like to program. Yet here you are with no coding experience actually making attempts to do something, even if its a "shit box little game". With that kind of mindset I'm sure you'll be successful with whatever you choose to do.

Thank you for your kind words. It is a marathon of learning and I am curretnly building other smaller games to build up required knowlage and following to make this game happen. I have an entire binder full of how the game will work I just need to get my skill to that level. And a lot of help.

I bought star wars battlefront 2 a weeks ago after I didn't played it for a few years. It's not just nostalgia, it's actually a really good game!

It is definitely a product of its time but they made it work really well for what they had. Back when more games seem to have been made by people who cared about them. (don't look up to many star wars games lol they didn't all do so well lol)

@@valkoinendev6328 Can I perhaps recommend trying a gamejam or two then? They are a pretty though challenge, but you can meet amazing people, get inspiration, and maybe even come out of it with a brand new game!

I've been trying to find an indie dev that tries to do this, so it's nice to finally see it. I've wanted to make a game like this for a while, but i just keep getting bogged down with other games and turned off by the idea of actually learning blender (I can do SolidWorks for engineering 3D modeling but Blender breaks my brain for some reason). @DragonSych Yeah. I figure it's better to make your own universe that's similar to avoid that fate while still going for the same gameplay systems. Otherwise, you basically gotta keep it to yourself to stay safe from EA's lawyers and that kinda defeats most of the point of making such a game.

I always loved the idea of Empire at war but was too old by the time I got my hands on it to get past how much a product of its time it was lol. I would love to work on something. Reach out via my email posted and we will see what can happen.

@@valkoinendev6328 How old are you? I am 19 and for me empire at doesn't feel "old", it aged very well and there are also so many mods out there (Btw where is your email)
