It kinda blows my mind that someone actually made a fan game like this, and of this quality, I'm stunned. This may go without saying, if this does end up being fully completed, that full long walk from Zelda's chamber all the way to the castle bridge would be absolutely tedious after a game over. I may consider either an updated checkpoint system, infinite lives, or starting just outside the castle on the over world if continuing immediately after a game over. And that being said, I'm fairly interested to see how you will tackle the over world's art style, there's a couple fun ways you could take it.
I think you should just re-use Link's animations and basic 3-hit combo from Smash Bros. Also, add a third swordsman instructor that teaches Link the Buzzsaw of Doom aka Zero's Kuuenzan attack from X4. Edit: Also, turn the jump spell into a basic double jump.
This is really cool, but I think the buildings are looking a bit too cartoony in their proportions and color scheme. The official artwork made the buildings look pretty realistic. The dirt and grass could also be more detailed. It needs that 90s anime background paintings vibe for the environment that the official art had. Don't be aftaid to reach out to artists for help, there are many people out there that would LOVE to work on this project. Personally, I'd ADORE to see this done as a fully 3D third person Zelda in terms of camera and gameplay. I realize that's probably asking a lot, but dear me it would be beautiful and would flesh out this game's story and world. Regardless of gameplay style though, I still highly recommend keeping the artstyle more authentic to the official art. This project has a lot of potential!
I actually have two questions regarding the music. 1. Do you guys plan to implement the Japanese/Famicom OST? There aren't many differences. Specifically the battle theme is different as it's actually where Minish Cap its mini boss theme from. I think the only other difference is that the boss theme lacks that second verse unlike the US version. 2. Will the towns have slightly different variations of the same town theme or will they be completely different this time around?
@@ALivingFlame Perhaps.. though i think the reason people like zelda 2 (for the ones that do, of course) like the sidescroller aspect of it, but i guess ur right haha
Nice wotk. Im actually planning on remaking a link to the past. Thats my fav game. *I have no prior experience of game dev, but im working on learning modelling and i have tons of ideas. Would be fun to do a project with you ;)
The place looks really nice, but the music is a bit "in your face", maybe lower the volume a bit?, it's still awesome, but it sounds like it will drown even the text "beep"s.
Sure, my next step is to add all npc's. I will probably change a lot of the scenery, because it's just the way it works for me - start with something and and then improve it until it works for me
