What better way to celebrate the one year anniversary of the series that got this channel going than going over one of my favorite locomotives covered in this series: PRR #4663, a streamlined doodlebug! I decided to redo this episode to honor Remarkable Engines since it's the pinnacle of the purpose of the series: to cover little known and obscure locomotives from around the world which have a good amount of history. I'm also not covering SMS Rail Lines #9 for this episode as that's a developing story since the locomotive is under restoration, and I will remake that episode once it starts running for SMS. But other than that, I hope you enjoy this remake of my favorite locomotive covered on Remarkable Engines!

I can't help thinking the streamlined front of this thing looks an awful lot like the Pioneer Zephyr. Coincidentally there's a diesel locomotive in New Zealand that also has the number 4663. She's a DC class locomotive, and was originally built as a DA (or EMD G12) in the 1960s. Incredibly DC 4663 is still in service with KiwiRail today, and still carries the old MAXX livery from her days as an Auckland commuter engine. One last thing; a couple of suggestions for future Remarkable Engines topics. Namely the EMC AB6 and New Zealand Railways H class. I could help with providing photographs of the latter.

Thank you for your interest, but this series only covers individual locomotives instead of an entire class of engines.

I forgot about that initially, for which I apologize. As it stands now I can only think of one individual locomotive as an alternative suggestion, namely WJ 466. She was a Baldwin-built tank engine that ran in New Zealand, and notable for being NZR's one and only 2-8-4.

I live about 20 minutes away from where the crash happened and I drove past the crash in memorial site before and also I saw some parts of the doodle bug that were at the memorial site but they are no longer there anymore and and my great grandpa saw the engine right after it crashed into the other train which was being led by a Pennsylvania k4
