I remember playing Fire Boy and Water Girl while in the hospital while I waited to be admitted for some mental health stuff when I was 16. That game brought me so much joy during a scary period of my life.
I played coolmath games sometimes as a kid, but for me the real nostalgia was y8 games, salute to fireboy and water girl the papa louie franchise, run, az etc... and also rip flash, you will forever be missed
My school has literally every website you imagined blocked. Naturally, kids started hunting for proxies that weren't blocked and there was a black market of them. I made like $100 off that lol.
@@HereComesThe-Sun RU-vid USED to be blocked on my school’s iPads, but now it has been unblocked probably because some teacher had to make her kids use RU-vid.
Not to mention, idk if screen time is disabled on my iPad because we can delete apps, and being able to delete apps is in screen time so maybe they forgot to check the screen time settings?
For some reason the whole site (*especially* like a decade ago) has a sort of 90s vibe to it. Like one of the last vestiges of the old wild west days of the internet or something. Not sure how old it really is, but it certainly carries that vibe. That sort of aesthetic combined with the timeless games and nostalgic setting really helps to amp up the nostalgia to its max.
Run really shaped my likes on sci fi when I was a kid. Like the alone in a empty void kind. Just the idea of this lone alien running in this space maze all alone with no real reason creeped me out as a kid but also interested me. It’s probably why I like No Man Sky single player so much. Being alone in space is both horrifying but amazing at the same time.
I remember playing Fireboy and Watergirl with my friend, we were always arguing about who is going to be a girl because no one wanted to be a girl. Some games I really loved back then, even if they might not be on CMG but still old, are Tank Trouble, Tanki Online (which is now really bad with all these updates), and the best Flash game series I've ever played, no, not Piko - Strike Force Heroes series
@@silvervr5911 the trees are alive theyre watching us the babies they cry theyre in the walls theyre inside the trees the walls the inside trees walls the babies theyre alive they watch us they look they judge they they cry theyre alive
I've quite literally beat the entirety of Run 3 six times, all the MotorX3Ms(a few of them all 3 stars), There is no game of course, and more. I was absolutely obsessed
Our school network would automatically restrict access to sites with flash games & such, although for some reason, coolmathgames was the one site that was never blocked. It probably got whitelisted because it had "math" in the name or something lol
Me and my cousin used to play Fire Boy and Water Girl in their basement because they used to have a computer down there for some reason Whenever I hear the music an instant wave of nostalgia hits me
Fortunatly there still are ways to play flash games. Newgrounds has this thing which let's you play them, there's a thing called blue maximas flashpoint which also let's you play them, and flash emulators like ruffle might improve over time.
Man, coolmath was the best. I’ve had multiple subs that don’t really know what it is and would let us play it because they thought it was educational. Such great memories.
I remember playing a tower climbing game. You played as a knight that starts the "round" with a rocket on which you had to time the perfect start. Then you'd have to slash some monsters to keep your speed up to not get caught by the rising lava. If you rose up enough you'd go through a floor and rescue a princess. It was fun.
One game I constantly played on CoolMath was Guardian Rock. Basically, you move this Rock Guardian around to kill all the archeologists to prevent them from exploring the temple. The thing I remember most about the game was the fantastic ost, it only had 3 songs but god damn were they amazing. Sadly, the game was made in flash so playing it nowadays is difficult.
The OSTs for some of the CoolMathGames were so much better than they had any right to be. I remember when I was younger, I didn’t like the soundtrack Sugar Sugar had because I thought it sounded depressing, but looking back, I’d probably find it calming like a lo-fi. Also, super Santa kicker had a fire OST. Only four songs, but I guess they went with quality over quantity.
I remember some kid was playing it on a computer next to me, I just saw it looked up the Websight and I still occasionally revisit it. Although a bit slow I like seeing the older games recover from the death of flash and I hope I can play Papa's Donutreia again some day.
Tricky Keys is an awesome CoolMathGames game. Basically, you play as a Mouse and go through an infected computer. It's a platform game, but with a twist: some levels will take away your controls, or automatically use them. For example, one level might make it so you can't go left, so you have to wall jump off walls and such. Or, during a level, the game will force you to automatically jump every once in a while, so you'll have to make sure it doesn't screw you over. I was able to reach the final level before CMG was blocked on my laptop lol. I'd highly suggest playing it because the level design is really fun and there are plenty of stages to play.
Ah CoolMathGames, one of the best websites ever, it was your cure for being bored at school, that's for sure. I remember playing a ton of games on that site, whether they were new, or old. I had a blast playing it, it will always be remembered by me.
I remember when everybody in my 1st and 2nd grade combo-class grinded in Jacksmith on this website whenever we got free choice. Then when I in first heard about the flash engine being discontinued, ever years after 1st grade, I prayed that Jacksmith wasn’t gonna be one of the shut down games, but then, it obviously was. Those really were the days…
Another game I really enjoyed a few years back before my school blocked cool math games was this game where the only 2 colors were pink and black and it was a run and gun type game with a pretty good ending. I couldn’t for the life of me find it again but I remember it being so fun
I remember playing duck life for hours on end when I was younger and when flash was banned from the internet in 2020 I stopped playing and just forgot about the website.
Coolmath got blocked at our school also. Instead of stopping playing, there became a race of could the students find more game sites or could the teachers block more.
@@swiftercurrents5106 nice we got the students vs county war. FYI when coolmath games got block people started a petition to unblock it. That petition has over 15k signs. Our school has 1k people
I love playing Duck Life (all of them except for the space one, since I haven't played that one yet). I also enjoyed Papa's Pizzeria and different types of it (even those games where you run and do tasks and shoot burgers or whatever).
Oh my goodness back then if all of our text book work was done we could mess about in cool math games. Those school issued laptops got hotter than the sun lmao
I remember when in ancient times we found a server, we did not know what it was until we invented the internet, then we realized it was the server for coolmath games and made hundreds of servers near that one.
Run has an installment formula similar to classic Nintendo trilogies; 1 is the most iconic basis, 2 is the experimental outlier, and 3 is the one that mastered the formula
My three favourites were Sticky Ninja Academy, Catch The Candy and Home Sheep Home. Though, Sticky Ninja was and always will be my #1. I even bought it a couple years ago long after I left public school to continue playing it on my phone. Now that I have a laptop, I'm glad I can still visit the site whenever I want. Cool Math is just something else.
I loved Coolmathgames when I was a middle schooler and it was probably the best alternative to Newgrounds if you just wanted to just play games, but the only games I played most of the time were the BTD series and Sticky Ninja but I did play one of the run games a little and a game called Raft Wars. Btw I don't know if this was propaganda that my old teachers made up, but does the site have viruses and malware?
I don't think CoolMathGames had any viruses, or malware on it, it's probably made up fibbage, I'm pretty sure they blocked it cause kids were playing on the site rather than doing tasks in school.
I have a vivid memory of me and one of my friends sitting in a corner of the room near the classroom’s front door. We were playing Dig 2 China and Fireboy and Watergirl. It was the last day of school and one of the last times I saw my friend He moved away, but I never was able to get any way to keep in touch
Yes, I remember CoolMath Games. Run and Fireboy/Watergirl were pretty fun, tho I fondly remember the Papa Restaraunt series (mainly Freezeria, as I've played that one the most). Anyways, good video.
I used to play the Papa Louie games on CoolMathGames since I was 8. I’m 15 now and I still use it to play 2048 and Run 3. When Flash shut down, that was the end of an era for me. I miss Flash already…
Honestly learn to fly 2 was the best part of grade 5 for me and then learn to fly 3 came out and it was amazing as well.. Its finally been switched to html5. Also the Big Tower Tiny Square games were also amazing. Those games got me through grade 5.
The wise man sitting on a bench. A kindergartener is bored, so he decides to walk up to the wise man. “What can I do?” The kid asked the man. “coolmathgames” he responded. “What is that?” The kid responded. “It is a Top Secret platform for gaming for some reason teachers do not block and a place that has existed since the beginning of time”
Fun story my elementary school officially supported coolmathgames on their website as an education tool and was even encouraged but sadly I didn't take advantage because I "didn't want to play boring math games"
I REMEMBER COOLMATH GAMES. 😭💕 I spent hours and hours on that website when I was in school. The platformers were my favorite type of games to play on there.
I actually love ovo, easy to grasp, hard to master. Personally, I did master it because I was on the speed run leaderboards, and it was always fun to help classmates who were struggling
I remember that basically every games site was blocked and we would just play Coolmathgames all day. Even as the years went by the site remained unblocked. The district IT guy must've been a real gigachad because it had never been blocked in the history of my time in school. Besides CMG there was also ABCYA that had some really badass games on it, like the Wheely series and Civiballs. Good times.
Tbh back in elementary school cool with games was insane but problem was that the eventually baned it because the ads where to "Inappropriate" (like raid shadow legends type ads) so yeah that was a good run
There’s someone called Robert Alvarez who makes games like big tall and small (and anything in the same art style) and I do recommend playing them, they are short puzzle games with good mechanics and a large amount of games to play. It’s a good way to spend an afternoon if you have time in school
Despite being in high school, I spent a bit of time playing CoolMath Games in school, especially during my senior year. Now as a freshman in college, I haven't been on the website at all, but during my mythology class I see this one dude playing games on there sometimes
I remember cool math games. It was the highlight of elementary school, everyone and I mean everyone would play it. My favorite was always jacksmith, but sadly it was made in flash. Sometimes I go back on cool math to remember simpler times.
Sadly in my school, once you are finished your assignment, your are not given free time, your supposed to work on any work you got from other classes which in my opinion is pretty stupid. If your doing nothing for 1 minute my teacher would go like "YoUr WaStInG yOuR tImE!!!1!1!"
I used to love the papas pizzaria games when I was younger, and was devastated when flash took them all off. Glad to see the original game is back up, because school was manageable with it.
funny thing, cool math games was blocked at my school but then WAS UNBLOCKED FOR SOME REASON and when we didnt wanna do stuff like xtra math or lexia core 5 we just went on cool math games and had fun, our teacher didnt even suspect a god dang thing
I can't wait for some random comedian in a couple years to mention this and joke about there being 2 kinds of people in the audience. The first is the group thinking: "What the hell are they talking about?", and the other is asking themselves how old they are.
The only thing I hate about cool math games: YOU HAVE TO WATCH A MOTHER FRICKIN AD JUST TO GET FULL SCREEN! And if you want to SKIP ADS, YOU NEED TO BE PREMIUM!!! DUDE WTH!!!! They really need to fix that... 😊 (Edit: It also plays way to many ads and its now blocked because of a kid 😭 I rate the game 6/10)
