Remember MERCENARIES? 

dude this is seriously the one game from my childhood that i still constantly think about. such an awesome game.

Never played the original Mercenaries, but Mercenaries 2: World in Flames was pretty fun. Lets see how this one goes c:

God I loved this game. Taught me how to hunt people in the most creative ways. Especially when I wanted them alive😂

Fun fact: Venezuela HATED mercenaries 2. They said it encouraged Americans to invade their country and demanded it be banned. In response the creators basically put a disclaimer making fun of Venezuela being big babies. It has since been removed.

These were outrageous games - remember loving them as a kid. Might have to buy them again. Also, funny hearing Peter Stormare as Mattias - wouldn't have recognised him then

Fun fact, the voice of Nilsson is the swedish actor Peter Stormare. He is famous from all diffrent movies like Lucifer in Constantine, Prison Break, Armageddon and The Big Lebowski :)

Mercenaries and mercenaries 2 were such amazing and fun games. Nothing quite like raining destruction through the multiple artillery strikes, bombardment and other crazy weapons at your disposal. Would love a good remake of this.

I remember renting this from Blockbuster, using money cheats, and then having an absolute blast wiping out entire areas with the Bunker Buster.

I remember playing mercenaries on the xbox and mercenaries 2 on the xbox 360. I loved those so much.

If there’s any game that deserves a remake or remaster it’s this one. Imagine being able to cause all this mass chaos on modern graphics. Absolute madness.

Just played mercenaries 1 and 2 on rpcs3 emulator this past month. Both fun games. I kinda enjoyed the 1st one compared to the 2nd story wise

This game was Hitman with assault rifles. You could sneak into base using enemy vehicle and they would take time to detect you .

I'm still waiting for Mercenaries 3. Matthias played by Peter Stormare just plays really well. City destruction and everything is destructible mechanics was always the best feature for a Mercenaries games

Played this with my Uncle and it was the pretty fun and chaotic even tried with some cheats, they should try and bring this game series back to life and not mess it up.

Mercenaries was one of my favorite games of all time. At the time it was my favorite. It was so epic

World in flames is one of the greatest games not only of its time but also of all time

Mercenaries ruled! I played that game so much and wish we could get a remaster or something like that. The sequel is even better too. By the end you are like a god of war, I was assassinating solitary targets via nuclear strike and buying helicopters to get from point a to b and just crashing them into my objectives.

This game, Black and TimeSplitters are one of the best shooters the Ps2 and Xbox generation had to offer.

Probably more memories from this game than any other. It’s insane to me now as a 28yo adult that I can re-visit this game and still remember both maps by heart.

Bro I grew up playing the hell out of Mercenaries' on Xbox. Still have the game disc and a little cheat sheet for money, Inf HP and Ammo, and the code to unlock a crate full of whoop ass. The Street Sweeper SMG that always clipped through your shoulder and was just a portable helicopter Gatling gun. The Pocket Grenade launcher pistol, and last but not least, the portable artillery rocket that fired those same giant rockets carried by the armored trucks. I'm not joking about it firing the same rockets either, if you pause the game right after firing you can see the missile eat up most of the screen as it leaves the rocket launcher. God it was SO Much Fun back then, back when games by Pandemic (RIP) like Starwars Battle Front 2 and Destroy All Humans had actual cheat codes for fun. The music alone is iconic, made by the same composer for The Incredibles movie by Pixar. I still listen to them regularly while playing MechWarrior cause they fit so damn well, especially the ambient tracks. Some of with I found out years layer actually had an error in one of the sound tracks where the Flute playing in one of the songs were Completely missing due to an error upon release on Xbox. I'm not sure if the PS2 version had the Flute Track missing as well but the ones uploaded on RU-vid were the first time I had ever heard them, and I played this game for Years since Childhood!

Actually one of the coolest games of its generation in open world exploration, destruction physics and vehicle variation and customization

I wish I could start a game studio with a cool billion dollars, id immediately get to work making Mercenaries Playground of Destruction Remake then 2. A GTA killer cause thats an untapped resource to steal from R* & Take2 greedy dirty asses. Finally The Kotor 1 & 2 remakes & 3 ffs 😂 & A GTA lspdfr game cause if u don't got a pc u not experiencing that completely new universe.

I remember over-heating 3 Compact PS2's while doing long ass marathons of playing this one game while my CD for GTA Vice City was gathering dust.

I keep thinking about this awesome game and all the game developers keep letting us down.

Me and my buddies played through this again all together on discord a few weeks ago, missed the hell out of this game, huge nostalgia rush. Glad its getting some attention in 2023! :)

Honestly, after having an Xbox one since it was released… I still have more fun finding old og Xbox games or 360 games in stores and playing on the 360 than anything I’ve ever downloaded to my One.

A game that desperately needs a remake, but an executive thought they were clever closing Pandemic Studios! Also, as I type this the theme tune is playing in the video and it's still soo good!

I LOVED this game. The sounds were great and the cheats were even greater to use after beating it. I loved changing my character to look like one of the north korean Spec Ops guys and set it on invincibility and Rambo through everything, lol. Stealing one of the Hinds or Apaches and roaming the land was fuckin awesome!

One of my first fps games I played was a game called black and I played not that long ago and it still kinda holds up, i feel like u would like it if u tryna play more older games

Nilsson all day, run and gun with him, I LOVED this game and only ever played it with him. His speed was unmatched.

I miss this game. Unlocking the fuel-air bomb and bunker busyer was so fun. Just destruction and fire everywhere. 10/10 game. (Exept for all the bad points 😅)

I remember Mercenaries on my Xbox and I loved it despite the fact I only ever got the Ace of Clubs and never got anything else. My nephew came over once (he is the same age as me of a year younger) and he decided to ruin the game for me by blowing up the Russian Mafia Headquarters so I can’t get any deliveries and I had to spend so much money to fix things. I then got Mercenaries 2 on my Xbox 360 but it would always freeze when k tried to talk to the Allies at their HQ or even got anywhere close to the HQ. I bought it for my PS2 (I still have one and had to get a new chord and controller for it) and enjoy it.

This was a huge part of my childhood. Especially playing as indiana jones

Such a good game. We desperately need a sequel or spiritual successor this type of game where you get to hunt and collect the bad guys like this. Never really had a game like them since.

Remember? How could I forget! One of my all time favorite game series, i still sometimes listen to the song "oh no you didnt" that was used for ads and the game trailer. I was check in on news of development on the sequel regularly from 2008 to 2013 when the 3rd game in the series as canceled, and still held out hope that rumors of the IP being picked up by another studio was true.

I played the f2p cod clone Combat Arms back in the day. You could change the settings to alter the music playing in the lobby for a match. I went with Mercenaries' "Oh no you didnt!" Song.

I was primarily a Russian Mob guy. Even as an American, anyone who is willing for that wonton destruction as any American is a friend in my book. Anyone, including other Americans in this game that don't like they way I do my job better get to a minimum safe distance.

kev have you ever heard of boiling point? its got stalker 1 graphics and combat, but its got a huge open world and helicopters, boats, airplanes, cars

I personally like Mercenaries 1 more than 2. Another popular game from the 2000s was Psi Ops The Mindgate Conspiracy, loved how you juggle people around with telekinesis that game was crazy. I wish it got a sequel.

The best pistol I've ever used in ANY shooter came from either the first or second game. Only available through cheats, or through completion of the story, it was a fully automatic pistol that shot GRENADES, and then there was the Street Sweeper, an SMG that held 3000 rounds of HELICOPTER firepower, PER MAGAZINE.

Your goddamned right I remember. One of the best games to come from Lucas Arts and EA. This and Army of Two. Sadly Xbox won't add Mercenaries 2: World in Flames or Army of Two 40th Day and Devils Cartel to its backwards compatibility roster. I'm trying to find a working Xbox 360 to play them again.

Peak Game 100/10 This isn't just childhood nostalgia I swear. _No, seriously this game was amazing and tons of fun to play. The sequel was also fun despite cutscenes being hot garbage. Then EA killed the studio making the third game_

FUCK I LOVE THIS GAME I remember playing this so soooo much when I was younger Back when you could replay games over and over and still be fun :)

I haven't been a proper gamer for more than 10 years, and this was one of the last games I tried to properly play (I got as far as the first "major" deck of 52 kill, but I couldn't pass it after loads of tries and got frustrated), but the graphics hold up pretty well, at least to me. It was only after watching this video I realised just how based on "battlefront" this game is, it's very nearly a re skin. The other thing that strikes me is just how "torn form teh headlines" this gmae was at the time and how it dates it to the early 2000s, the "deck of 52", the use of "PMCs" which various people were touting as the future of warefare at the time (if course, in the end they were esentially security guards in Iraw and Afghanistan) and the idea that the dictator of north korea might be overthrown by their son. Also, weren't the "A.N" the fictional verso of the United NAtions in the Street Fighter film? Does that mean that this game shares a universe with teh Street Fighter games?

I hope in the near future game creators combine 3rd person tactical milsim shooters, like Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon, combined With Mercenaries? It would be so cool, to see game like TCGR Breakpoint and Wildlands where you have awesome gun and outfit customization, along with tense gun fights and stealth elements, combined with destructible environments and calling in tons of different types of air support ordinance and artillery to destroy enemy infantry and infrastructure. I hope someone someday makes that game.

No other game has scratched the itch Mercs1 left. GTA in a battlefield Ai combat encounters Destruction choices Strong but not invincible Aces But my favorite is how the factions work. Their missions, growth, spread to other areas, etc. I wish more games with factions actually showed these changes in the world like this game.

I would spend hundreds of hours messing with the AI to create my own bases as ai will man vehicles and fight when enemies are near by, you can legit make tower defense if you find a north korean base. Using the UH-60 you can through a smoke and before it pops quickly reselect the same drop in you inventory, it will spawn for free, same works for arty strikes you can then reselect the strike or drop and get infinite free everything. Also the uh60 spawns a three permanent ai's meaning they never despawn unless you load. So boom free tower defense game.

Played this when I was a kid used to love calling for ammo drops only to snipe the helicopter pilot and get ammunition and a free helicopter good times and you haven’t lived till you hand cuff a bunch of bad guy near building and then place C4 all over then boom building comes down great game 10/10 best war crime simulator😃

Fun Fact! The playing cards are based on real life. Back during the Iraq War. They had decks of cards with images of top/high ranking enemies on them. The Most wanted Iraqi playing cards are a real thing and were handed out to troops.

I suggest playing spec ops, the line for another game It is very gruesome where friendly fire is tolerable and you chose who dies or not but CAN BE CIVILIANS so choose as it can effect the characters and the ending
