Remember When: Boeing Lined Up The Entire 7X7 Aircraft Series

From the 707 to the 787, Boeing has over 60 years of development in the 7X7 series. Some lucky travelers may have flown on all of them, but for most of us, it’s enough of a challenge simply to have seen them all. Boeing helped once in 2016, by lining up the whole series as part of its centenary celebration.

Fascinating to see a 707 on one end, & a 787 on the other end. Incredibly beautiful look of the 727 has always made it my favorite Boeing jet.

Old enough to have flown on each type. Last time on the 707 (if I have my dates right) was in April of 1986 on an Olympic Airways flight from Santorini to Rhodes.

Out of this lineup I got to fly on the 737, 747, 757, 767, 777 and 787, but I was in the United 727 in the Museum of Flight!

That would be nice to see how airplanes have advanced over the decades as the 737 first flew in the early 1960s and still flies today, it'll most likely fly for many more years if not decades to come!

All 737-100 but one has been scrapped though. The one remaining one I believe isn’t airworthy anymore.

My aunt and uncle both work for Boeing and were at a private event for Boeing employees where the jets flew in. The 707 landed at 7:07, the 717 landed at 7:17, and so on. They said it was one of the coolest experiences they've had.

Favourite Boeing? 757. I’ve been fortunate to have flown on a few in my time. Love the stealthiness of it, it’s power and comfort compared to the 737.

I have only seen these lineups on photographs and in this video, and my favorite Boeing airplane is the 737. The 727 is an incredibly close 2nd, shared with the 747. The old but glorious Boeing 314 is an honorable mention.

I have flown in the 737, 747, 757, 767 and 777. I am old enough to remember the B707s flying around and 727s since Lacsa the local Airline at the time here in Costa Rica operated mostly 727s.

@@spongebubatz Without a doubt. Of the seven passengers, the only one without an aisle or window seat is the person in the very middle, and even then they only have to climb over one other person to get up and use the restroom. Truly a great design.

my favourite of course the 747, the evolution that came from it is enormous until people dont see it in its passenger form anymore, but it’ll be flying for freights a for more years to come. To see the line up alone makes me feel how far aviation has transformed, Boeing’s eye at least.

My favourite Boeing jet is the 747. Because it was the first airworthy aircraft I had ever worked on. Day one and two of my internship involved a modification of the wing fuel tanks. Before then I had only worked on aircraft inside the technical college. I think the first one there was a retired F-84 Starfighter.

Could you do a video on different seat layouts? Such as why there has been a switch to 3-3-3 and away from 2-5-2 on 9 abreast wide bodies, or even some of the slightly odd asymmetric layouts like 3-4-2.

I was born too late to fly on a 707, but have been inside the Qantas 707 on display at the Qantas Museum in Longreach. Never flown on a 717 but want to try one of the QantasLink 717 flights at some point. Never been on a 727, been on dozens of 737s, been on Air NZ, Singapore Airlines, United and Qantas 747-400's (the Qantas one was actually a 747-400ER), been on a United 757, a few Ansett (those were the days) and Qantas 767's, and am yet to try a 777 or 787. My favourite of course, is by far the 747.

I think the 757/767 deserves a refresh. Hit the middle market that the 797 is expected to fill in. Have a small wide body and a large narrow body with great range and performance for those skinny routes.

The Boeing 727 is my favorite Boeing aircraft for a few reasons. It's much faster than any of the turbofans of today. Aircraft engineers have traded some speed for quiet and efficiency. I once took a short flight in a 737-200 that carried maybe 10 passengers. The airline ran it in a shuttle service between LGA-ROC. So they had to back to LGA to pick up a full plane of people.

The earlier lineup, was part of the 787 release/unveil, hence why it wasn't in that one. That earlier lineup also tied the date with the type, with it being taken on 7.7.7 (7.8.7 was the 787 prototype unveil)

Flown in all of Boeing’s airliner range, from 707 through to 777 in various versions, just need the 787 to complete the set. Hopefully I will be able to in the future

Good luck on those two. Now becoming very rare. 767 is still in production though but not as a passenger.

@@yoyoyoyoshua I'm sure that I will be able to get on board the 767 because Aisiana operates it on the domestic route in my country (GMP-CJU) and MIAT mongolian and Air Astana operates it to central Asia. But I'm not really sure if I will get a chance to fly on the 757 since no airline in my country operates that aircraft. There are also no foreign airlines that operate that plane to Korea. Maybe I will get a chance when I travel to another country after the pandemic. ^^

My favorite Boeing has to be... Ugh, I can't decide between the 727 and the 747. Both of these aircraft are very unique as there are no others like them. None of the rest of the Boeing's as well as the Airbus's have such a uniqueness about them quite like the 727 and the 747. For example, the 380 has two decks, but still, it has the same shape as all the others, just a little fatter. Anyway, the 727 was my first aviation experience back in the day and I will to this day never forget staring, the entire flight, at the engine sitting right outside my window. I was hooked...
