I met Mr. Bobby Blue Bland in 1965 in Detroit Mi ,at a gig held a t a Cabaret Hall named Soul City on Joy and Beverley Rd. I was a young person trying to break off into music. At that time Mr. Bobby Blue Bland had a Revue and a Big Band just like on this post. He gave us permission to perform and he had his band back us . Man what a blessing. Since that time I have been in his presence ,he has always been a class act. I love this brother and always will. The young performers today I believe they do not have the great mentors like him that we had . R.I.P. My Brother .

Makes me reminisce of my old neighbor and I can remember the older gentlemen sitting around on Friday and Saturdays nights smoking their cigars drinking beer, gambling and listening to this music. Those men where real men who took care of their families and protected the neighborhood.
I love the blues because my whole life been the blues y'all all. You. Blue. Guys and ladies Rip. Thank you for the. Music the. Best. Until we meet again brothers.and. Sisters
I was raised on the Blues, My mom use to date Elmore James, so it was instilled in me from the time I knew anything. Lowell Fulson, Roosevelt Skyes, Little Willie John, Junior Parker, CHarles Brown, BB, Freddie, & Albert King. Lighting Hopkins, man I could go on & on. But I remember the day that she brought home "The Feeling Is Gone" By Bobby Bland. Talking about a life altering experience. I would neve be touched like that again until Jimi Hendrix & Buddy Miles. Key up this video to 6:30 to hear quite possibly is best song that he ever sung, I know from the time her recorded it, until the time he stopped touring it was always in the line up! Just listen! He's a great singer & I have many songs that I love to hear him sing. But this "The Feeling Is Gone" runs second to nothing!!!
I heard all of guys as a kid..my Dad played..B.B King..Bobby Blue Bland..Diana Washington. Brook Benton..Nancy Wilson Etta James..we sang all these songs more while he tought me to cook...Rip Dad I love Daddy 😍
Imagine if this great man had been a pianist or played guitar, he would be even more popular on the pop charts as Mr. King was....but he didn't have that to fall back on......all he had was that magnificent voice
absolutely incredible. back n the early 60's we were living in midland, texas. my mother was a waitress at the cobra club. on sundays she would stash us above the band n we'd watch the 1st set. incredible. frfr. Travis.
When he sang you can feel it always down to your toes.he was just that good.i really do appreciate and love this gentleman.rest in peace Bobby blue bland.
This man's music is therapeutic. I did not like his music because the only thing I could hear was his squawk. But depression led me to just listen. It lifted me out of my depressive state and I've been loving him ever since. A true gift.
Thanks for posting this, good to see great singers play live. This is all musicians playing, not the today's artificial digital sounds. I appreciate this more now than back in the day.
+gateswf Do you know when this was recorded? The suits look like 50's-60's. What horns add to a show is priceless. You can get the same sampled sound from keyboards, but its a poor imitation to a real horn section.
+gateswf Ah, the Peavey amp, the guitarist is using, that's 80"s. My guess is this performance was in the late 80's. Guitar, 60's Gibson 345 with a Bigsby tail piece, hard to keep in tune but, the guy makes it cry....
Merle Haggard is one of my favorite singers. And he done a great job writing and singing this song. But when I seen this, omg I fell in love with the song again
My mon loved this man she passed four months before he did and she has every song that he has put out and she even has the one's he did with BB King he did Mr Bland was a Smooth man
He sure is I was looking at unsung on News One about the life of B. Bland and decided to go to u tube and pull him up. I have been listening to him singing and performing for at least 6-hrs.He has a voice that is awesome/soothing. Now I know what I am going to do on Jan 20,2017 instead of turning on the television. My late husband took me to see him on our first date, which was so very many years ago. Love Bobby Bland, RIP
