Remembering California’s first Filipino-American teacher, Flora Arca Mata 

I just finished watching the piece about Flora and I was moved by her story. My daughter in law is Filipino and I now better appreciate the challenges that many individuals experience due to their culture. Thank you Channel 10 for highlighting Flora's accomplishments. Her family must be very proud. ❤

Hey how do Filipino Americans get confused if they are Asian or not? The Philippines just hosted the Asian Games. The Philippines are one of the founding members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. The Philippines do not compete in the Pacific Games with other Pacific Islands nations. The Philippines do not join Pacific Islands Forum like other Pacific Islands countries. If they even spent 1 minute to look it up, they'd find out the Philippines is in Southeast Asia. It's not even partially located in the Pacific Islands region.
