She was in the same group of legends such as Dorothy Dandrige, Lena Horne, Pearl Bailey and Billie Holliday. So beautiful, classy and elegant. RIH legend.
@@alondakennedy1725She is there in that group of legends. Thank you. I did not know that she had transitioned home this year. So much beauty and class is leaving this world. Sad.
Besides Ms. Carroll's talents, she like other black queens of the past, by their personas, showed black women that we don't have to step out of character to be heard. Good night, Ms. Carroll. Thank you for all that you gave.
@@valerieshaver2404 I SINCERELY HOPE SHE WAS A TRUE GENUINE BELIEVER IN CHRIST, OTHERWISE LIKE EVERYONE ELSE, SHE DIDN'T MAKE IT TO HEAVEN. THE GATE IS NARROW AND FEW FIND IT. MATTHEW 7:13,14
Yes I remember watching Julia when it was originally on TV. Oh...my dear...diahnna carol slowed down and done died...my my I'm not ready for what has been done happened...
@@sidneyjohnson892 the same. My siblings had a list of all the BLACK actresses on tv in the 60's. Ms. Carroll...Julia of course. Gail Fisher from Mannix, Nichelle Nichols from Star Trek, & Teresa Graves and Chelsea Brown from Laugh-In. GREAT memories.😊
mochawitch oh yes Diana Carol was also the first black woman to portray a nurse on TV I can’t remember the name of the show does anybody happen to know the name of the shell
Ms. Diahann Carroll blessed us with her talent, beauty, and class. She broke down so many racial barriers in the entertainment industry. It cost her a great deal of pain and suffering. But she persevered. Thank you, my Queen, for gracing us with your superb artistry. We will miss you. A ReelBlack salute to one of the true legends and icons of our age. Peace and Blessings!!!
Black people, African Americans, (or whatever politically correct term you would like to use as a description) come from royalty. Kings and Queens of Africa! Before you dismiss our proud and rich heritage and call us silly you need to do some research. Wake up Rip Van Winkle!
No but I have noticed a lot of news stations reporting her passing are not mentioning it only Julia. I make sure to remind them of her role on Dynasty was also groundbreaking as Blake's sister: An affluent, classy, African-American Diva!! There were not any roles on tv like hers at the time. Another successful black female actress would be Phylicia Rashad who played Mrs. Cosby, an attorney. Doninique Deveraux was way wealthier than Mrs. Cosby! Lol
What a Class Act! Ms. Diana Carroll was a Legend! She will not be forgotten, for her many Groundbreaking Accomplishments in Television and The Movie Theaters. GOD Bless her Daughter, Family, Friends and Fans. There will not be another Ms. Diana Carroll. Please accept our condolences. 😢⛪
My mother's death date is also Oct.4, 2011. I thought of the truck drivers when they say 10 4, I'm out, meaning goodbye, and I took that as my mom saying goodbye. Rest in PARADISE mama,❤and Rest in PARADISE Dianne Carroll ❤✌🙏
Alquan Mrs. Carroll also had a long affair with a Black man, Sidney Poitier. Diahann Carroll was very much aware of discrimination and Jim Crow policies and practices, as well as segregation--separate but not equal. Harry Belafonte married a white woman but it has not stopped his efforts in the Civil Rights Movement. There are many examples of famous Black people marrying non-blacks. Sidney Poitier also married a white person. James Baldwin had affairs with several white people, but he didn’t escape his blackness nor did he try to escape it. There are many famous Blacks who marry other Blacks, but some of them remain silent when the torch is being passed to do the things that are needed to support and uplift the Black race as a whole unit. Instead of Black people being overly consumed about other adults’ bed mates, we should be participating in doing our part for the betterment of the Black community by directing and guiding our black youth.
@Alquan why did you feel it necessary to spew this biased and ignorant unecessary mess on a video memorializing a BLACK woman of class, grace, and talent. Take your hate elsewhere. You starting to sound like your oppressor. Seek therapy.
Yes, very very classy. When I see Ms Carroll, I think of Ms. Lynn Whitfield as well. So nice to see people paying tribute to this lady unlike SOME. Rest in power Ms. Carroll and thank you.
@Alquan I don't get involved much on this comment section much. I could care less, however you shouldn't make statements like that. BLACK men sought White women , cause to have one was taboo. Once upon a time those in the know didn't speak about it. When a BLACK woman seeks a white man it's more about the relationship, not the scandal. BLACK people are free to do what the other ethnic groups do when it comes to affairs of the ❤ . So was that Black enough for you?
I saw her for the first time as a child watching the night time drama "Dynasty"❤Always beautiful, talented & classy ❤GOD BLESS YOU Ms.Diahann💕we love you💕
She was fabulous in every role she ever played!! I loved every role but I savored her performance in The Five Heartbeats, especially during the funeral and Big Red had the audacity to actually offer his condolences and his companionship to the widow of the man he had murdered. His crocodile tears were amazing but HER reaction was absolutely jaw dropping. It's a scene I have never forgotten.
It's like I lost my aunt, rest easy and you will be living in us who respect and know your legacy. I'll pass this on to the younger ones who didn't get to experience.
Ms. Carroll was a class act. Raw beauty and undying integrity. A very proud African American woman that did not subscribe to stereotypes nor did she allow the industry to force her to uphold any... I cannot imagine what she has seen in her lifetime but I do know what she represented to me. RIP Ms. Carroll, U will be missed 😢
She was my "movie star" mom when I was a kid. So regal and yet so girl-next-door relatable. RIP Miss Carroll. Yours is a legacy of breaking barriers with class.
So beautiful and talented! I never knew she started her illustrious career as a singer. Thank you reelblack for allowing us to see and hear Diahann Carroll sing! RIP Queen!!!
My heart is broken, we had dinner on Monday night. I just thought we would gossip until eternity. Diahann and I were friends for 60 years we met in 1959. My heart is broken, and I will miss her as I know everyone else will also. I love you my dear friend Diahann Carroll and save me some good Tea. Love you RIP ❤️❤️❤️ 🌹
Thats such a Blessing you got to know this amazing woman in your presence. Im sure she was also Blessed to have you as her friend. Im so sorry for your loss. She was greatly loved & appreciated. Tyler Perry did a nice dedication to Ms.Carroll naming one of his studios after her & wondered if they had ever met. She was a Queen👸🏾🌹

Gday luv As a youngster I identified with Julia my mother was a RN also at the time When she arrived on Dynasty wow Just Wow We lost a angel truly a class act and so pretty and her voice Thank you
I never knew she could sing. She was so beautiful and talented in every role that she played. I can’t pick a favorite, but I became a fan one summer when I was able to see the reruns of Julia and my mom told me how ground breaking that role was for African Americans. RIP Ms. Carroll....thanks for sharing
All in all, she lived a very full life! She lived through so many eras of tv and film. Rest well you classy immensely talented queen. You contributions to this world will not go unnoticed.
