Heartfelt thanks to Doddies family for sharing this wonderful gentleman with the world. He was a giant of a man, not just physically, intellectually, emotionally and had a brilliant sense of humour. He was a huge presence on and off the field of play. He has been and will continue to be sorely missed by all of us who loved the game. My sincere condolences to you all for this great loss.

Although I'm Canadian, I grew up in Melrose until 1998. Doddie Weir was a folk-hero to me as a little boy and my family will forever remember him as a lovely man and a great rugby player. Also I gotta say his choice of tartan suits is exquisite. Rest In Peace, Doddie.

To say that Doddie was a character is an understatement. He was much more than that. He was an inspiration to all. A brave warrior both on and off the pitch. He epitomised the spirit of the game and will always be a legend of it. His legacy will live on through the charity and hopefully we'll one day find a cure for such a horrible disease. Rest easy Big Man.
