When I was 12 years old I went to see an Exhibition Game between the Milwaukee Brewers and their then AAA affiliate Sacramento Solons in Sacramento. Hank hit a towering HR in the game but it wasn't enough and Solons went on to get the win 11-8. After the game, Hank came over to the stands and started signing autographs. He stayed and signed autographs for everyone there. I know because I was the last one to leave. I was in such awe, here I was standing in the presence of the all-time HR King, and he stays and signs for everyone.

Babe had four years of the best lefthanded pitching numbers of all time. Babe had better numbers than Mariano Rivera for COMPLETE GAMES.... The "name of the game" is runs. Over a 162 game average.... Babe had 141 runs and 143 rbi .... Aaron? 107 runs and 113 rbi .... It doesn't matter if it's walks, doubles, hrs, steals, etc.. It's runs and rbi's. .... Babe was the best. A guy that average 20 wins with a 2.25 era is GUNNING from right field....

@@francus7227 Ok.. This is not to take away from B. Ruth.. No “buts”.. just “and” And Ruth played back when guys worked offseason jobs, and the VAST majority of the world’s pop, let alone the US, even dabbled in athletics themselves (when Ruth grew up). And Ruth sticking out SO much. Not that it wasn’t impressive. Back to “and”… And like that of athletic females, where SUCH a higher% than guys just dabble in athletics, if engage at all… it’s much more common to see females stick out like a Ruth. So it was impressive, AND actually makes sense that an individual stuck out like that. Add G. Mikan of the NBA to the list. The NBA just wasn’t nearly as popular in it’s early days. Long story short. I simply separate Ruth’s days from Aaron’s. There’s no taking away from either. Ruth was indeed a BEAST
@mattday6910
@mattday6910 2 месяца назад
@@francus7227 not to be a jerk.. just helping out on “the name of the game” w/ Runs. Yes. For Teams. I don’t demonize. The Runs for a Mantle & other Yanks simply make sense. So do the drawn walks. Ya don’t mind them when you have 5-6 hitters that literally reflect cleanup hitters for other Teams. So many of these “legacy/impact” stats are in relation to NYY players specifically. Again, they simply make sense. I’m not devaluing anything. Let’s look the yrs Babe hit more HRs than Teams. Pick any hitter in front of the Babe. And let’s say I’m in fact 1 of those Teams (or any Team)… So if I’m looking at an avg #2 hitter in front of Babe…. Do ya think it’ll be a wise idea to make a big Trade, or even a Trade/acquisition of that player w/ big plans moving fwd, thinkin’ he’ll give me “the Run production” he had hittin’ before Babe????? And don’t forget Gherig in that mix-match w/ the 3-4 spot. You’re welcome for that. Again, the Runs just make sense. So do all the “drawn walks” for a Mantle as well. The walks make sense on both sides. Sure a post 4th hitter might hit cleanup for my own Team, but I’m sure in many situations it was a better idea to pitch-around Mickey. ;)

I never got a chance to see him play. But thanks to the internet, I have gotten a chance to watch some of his history milestones. Hammerin' Hank helped lead the way and brought the joy of the game to generations who never got to see him directly. Thank you, Hank! Rest well, your memory will live on.

So sorry, what a legend. I remember my dad took me to Shea to see the Mets vs the Braves. I saw Hank hit a home run with no batting gloves on. The ball was high in the air and you can see the outfielder trying to chase the ball back to the fence but it was a genuine Henry Aaron home run. In the steroid era, a homerun ball was a line drive in the air and the outfielder didn't move; all he did was watched the ball go over the wall. MLB should retire #44 just like they did for Jackie Robinson #42.
