He was such a great guy. I was walking through the HUB once and he was passing me and I said "hey, coach" and he stopped and asked me how classes were going. Really cared about students.
The disgraceful way PSU handled everything at the end with Paterno is case in point of todays culture in sport/business...blame the old guy/gal for everything...let the young crowd do whatever to whoever.
I mean, all he did was try to cover up child rape. Why should he be destroyed for that?! It makes sense that The Catholic League Network wouldn't have an issue with that...
You mean when Joe not only reported it, but followed up it for a fact!!! I mean as a die hard Nittany Lions fan, it truly is easy to see, the money the football program brought in was insane, and the knuckleheads he reported it to seen the golden goose which was the Roman Empire of college football as Sprorts Illustrated put it, they threw a legend under the bus, period!!!!@
@@kevinchandler179 all he did was report it to his supervisor...the bare minimum. For someone that constantly lectured everyone about how we at penn st preach leadership and accountability and character blah blah to our players...Joe Pa sure lacked when it came this situation. Where’s the leadership in doing your legal bare minimum and then never following up. How about calling the state police rather than the university police? He knew what he was doing...covering up for his beloved program and university. Which in turn made it worse. He knew in 1998 and still gave Jerry access to the football building. He knew in 2011 the indictments were coming down and he re-negotiated his retirement and got more money because he knew it was his last chance. The power got to Joe Pa’s head. And Spanier, and Gary, and Tim. They all wanted to protect the school and there asses and money. Nobody cared about the kids being abused. For someone who was about to win the medal of freedom, I expect more and you should, too. Joe Pa...he was the worst pa ever. Let the kids be raped for Christ sake. I’m a huge penn st fan now that all this bullshit has been dealt with but man that was so embarrassing and disgusting.
@@kevinchandler179 the guy was the most powerful man in the entire region...maybe even the state at least influence was. Certainly in education and sports...don’t you think Joe Pa could’ve used his power to see to it that Jerry be prosecuted and kept away from kids? I mean you’re fucking Joe Paterno for Christ sake....I called my supervisor....let’s be real JOE DIDNT HAVE A SUPERVISOR. He didn’t answer to anybody in reality. The board and the president answered to him. At least until they found out...
@@mikeworkman1759 No. Jerry Sandusky was not an employee of the university when he was discovered by an assistant coach. Paterno reported it to the police when he was made aware and his boss (the AD) as required by Pennsylvania law. You sound like someone who has no clue of what happened. All of this would be easily discoverable if you could use a search engine.
@@teekay_1 I just read the article of the whole issue that Bleacher Report put out with the email evidence that Joe Pa knew about this 10 years prior and DIDNT go to the police...he chose to keep it quiet and handle it in-house rather than reporting it. Pathetic. You probably should read it if you want to learn about what really happened.
@@mikeworkman1759 Speculation on the Bleacher Report. What's next? A quote from Alex Jones? The Pennsylvania State Police investigated the claims made of Sandusky but found nothing substantive to charge him. He was cleared by the police at the time, and he was pushed out of his DC job by Paterno because he didn't want him associated with the program. Sandusky was only allowed on PSU property over objections from multiple parties at PSU including Paterno, but the AD and head of the university allowed h it, which is why they went to jail. I realize you're just trolling, but you're bad at it, and every post, makes you seem even more ignorant.
The thing I remember most about Joe Paterno was when he pooped his pants on national television on September 23, 2006 while they were playing Ohio State.
