Hi Atco. Great to hear from you again. Retro technology is almost always fun.Vintage computers, stereos, gramophones, 8 tracks, slot cars, trains...take your pick...are fun nostalgia for those of us of a certain age. As you said even merely looking at these aging artifacts remind us of youth, or simpler times, or past passions. Again, great to see you post a new video.

Hey Atco, good to see you. Nice to hear you talking about the early PC days. Don’t know if I ever mentioned it on my channel, I worked in the early PC days at a hospital, in the IT Department’s infancy. People probably don’t realize how expensive the early IBM’s were. We started putting our own together, as soon as the clones started popping up. I installed the hospital’s first network, a Novell operating system, to replace a dedicated word processing system. Those were exciting days. Cool seeing those Sitting there behind you. Take care old friend.

Man, good to hear from you Al - Funny, back in the 80s I was working with a rather small company. They had only about 5 PCs and I was only one who knew what to do with them, so I started working on the network along with my normal job. Really like it so got my Novell certificate and left for a bigger company and eventually became the network manager. It was a fun time. See ya -- Atco

@@atco21117 Yep, Novell was the King, who’d have thought, they’d go down the tubes. I stayed with the company that bought the hospital, moved to the company Information Center, ended up a Senior Network Engineer, before retiring. It was a good career and I enjoyed it. Started getting weird at the end, people getting promoted and hired for reasons other than qualifications, ticking boxes. I retired at a good time and I’m enjoying retirement, don’t miss work at all. I’m busy enough to wonder how I found time to work😂. You always struck me as that kind of guy, Atco, keep enjoying life, buddy.

I completely get it.........although not a lot of people will. I've still got my Commodore 64, the one I received for my 13th Birthday back in 1983. Just looking at it gives me pleasure and makes me feel good, and it always will. It doesn't matter whether it's an old car, a dog or a Commodore 64, there's something that gives all of us a sense of enjoyment and satisfaction.

Hi Jay_Tee - Well, like anything else eventually those vintage PCs in my basement had to go. But showing off those vintage PCs to young kids at schools and libraries made it work keeping those PCs in my basement all those days! See ya -- Atco

I can't really say I remember anything about vintage pc's. The 1st one I ever owned (and it was old at the time) was a Zenith Data Systems pc with windows 3.1 and I think the only thing I could ever do on it was play solitaire, lol. In office machines class back in high school I briefly dabbled with the "PC"s they had...a Wang, and an IBM Color Computer that took up most of a cafeteria table. I always associated computers back then with banks and punch cards and big tape reels, you know, stuff rocket scientists messed with. The first I ever went online was with a WebTV by Magnavox/Philips and the first computer I bought new was a Dell Inspiron in 2007 with Windows Vista. I've always been slow to adapt to new stuff. My first cell phone is my current one. Had a land line up till the year before last. My truck is a '98 Ranger and it's only the 2nd vehicle I've ever had with fuel injection. I must confess I'm better with carburetors, lol.

Hi Rebel - Man, Wang, that I never did get one of. I remember trying to get into Wang for a job once, but no luck. It was so exciting in the 70s and 80s when things weren't standard yet. Once Windows 3.1 came out, we knew that's the standard now (of course, Apple had their OS standard as well). Good to hear from you -- Atco
