Thanks for the great video and all the info. Where I live mirtazapine is available but also Lerivon which is mianserin. Mianserin was synthesized first and mirtazapine is 6-aza-mianserin, the only chemical difference with mirtazapine is one nitrogen atom. That tiny difference results in a drug with unique properties. I've found that mianserin and mirtazapine are great antidepressants, very good choices for comorbid anxiety and insomnia. They have two things that I don't like, both of them can cause agranulocytosis very rarely and the other thing is that they can increase your appetite a lot and that's what leads to weight gain. So this last thing is a property that can be useful for some people and a problem to others. The last thing I would like to say is that they're very good drugs, old and well known, so the risk of agranulocytosis is little but it's there so it's better to be cautious and do blood tests regularly at least the first months of treatment and it's also necessary to educate the patient to recognize quickly the signs and symptoms of agranulocytosis. Thanks for all your work!

Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your insights on mianserin and mirtazapine! I'm going to have to do some more research into mianserin. It's great to hear that these antidepressants are effective choices for comorbid anxiety and insomnia. It's always important to be aware of the potential side effects and risks associated with any medication, so your cautionary advice is much appreciated. Keep up the good work in taking care of your health! I appreciate your input.

I like it, been taking it for about 4 months. Don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. I’ve had sleeping problems my entire life, and this works 80% of the time and that’s worth the trade off of some of the tiredness I sometimes feel during the day.

I was on this one and it was absolutely terrible. It was drying my sinuses out and made me feel even worse than I was.

It does hit on some histamine receptors as well. Which sounds pretty congruent with your experience. I'm sorry to hear that one didn't work out well for you.

How long were you on it and was it hard to get off of it?

I've been on it for six weeks and I've only felt more depressed and my anxiety is the same but I am scared to come off of it because I am scared my anxiety will go even higher and have to deal with withdrawal symptoms as well

@@crystalcristina6025 I was on for like 3 months if I'm not mistaken and I was on a pretty low dose I was on 7.5 the highest I moved up to was like 15. The original psychiatrist that put me on it was terrible because I kept telling him the side effects I was having but he was basically pretending like I was making it up. The new one I have just had me to completely stop it but did transition me over to something else.
