Our first look at American legends Remington here on the ‪@eastfieldgunroom‬ channel. Founded in 1816 Remington has produced all kinds of shotguns and firearms.Since it's launch back in the 1960's the 1100 has been a firm favourite with hunters and clay shooters alike and has a huge fanbase the world over. Even though a very sad state of affairs has seen the bankruptcy of Remington in recent years, over four million 1100's have been manufactured to date.
1100's were hugely popular in the UK back in the 1970-80's with some top shots winning many titles in all kinds of disciplines whilst stood behind one.
Matthew takes a close look at the all singing all dancing CS Competition model. A much more modern looking gun than most 1100 designs and that is packed full of features.

Matt I have shot Remington Auto’s since 1976 a 1100 3inch Mag and with it I have had a Grand Time with it. It is still my Primary Waterfowl Gun. Why because it works and is the only Gun. I have ran 100 Straight in Trap and changed barrels then walked over to the Skeet Range and ran another 100 Straight. Then in 1989 I started shooting a 11-87 Monte Carlo Stock for Trap and in 35 years it has had Zero parts failure ! I clean my gun every time I shoot it, 15-20 Minutes and it just keeps running reliability and change action spring when it gets compressed. I will most likely die before my Remington Auto’s wear out.

I have two 1100 and they are easy to shoot. It's a must have gun for any collection. about once a year i grab the 1100 and head to the gun club then give it a good cleaning. This year I shot 84 straight.

Thank you for your comment. I am purely sharing my experience of what Remington shooters have relayed to me over the years. I have no doubt that there were tonnes of completely reliable ones. Kind regards, Matthew

I competed at a high level in ATA which is American Trap Association. Owned plenty of O/U competition guns. I ordered a LH Rem 11-87 Premiere Trap. Yes, a mirror image left hand shotgun with a monte carlo stock. So I give it a try and shot 96 of 100 targets in practice! Sold a bunch of shotguns after that. Higher scores came after more practice until I was shooting 99 or 100 of 100 clays. O-RINGS: they are Viton o-ring and the size is online somewhere I found it long ago. So I went to a hydraulics parts store and bought a small bag of 100 Viton rings for around $20 Canadian. All the other Rem 1100 or 1187 users I'd meet would get a free o-ring from me and a handshake. It was fun to see the expressions.

1963... The 1100 had an advantage for success in the market replacing the earlier gas operated Model(s) 58 and 878. Its predecessors had differing gas systems. Using what they learned plus new designs they came up the 1100. In later years the more robust 11-87 was introduced as a 3 inch do it all offering. There was also an 11-96 was a short-lived light weight version of the 11-87. Through time Remington continued to offer the 1100 as a target gun. Remington went through bankruptcy a couple of times recently and was bought out by another company now branded as "Remarms". The ammunition business still uses the name Remington for its products but is owned by another totally separate company. Remarms has slowly been bringing their firearms back to the market but recently announced it is moving all of the products manufactured at the NY factory to a new factory (headquarters) in Georgia. The 1100 as a target gun shows up on the new website but I'm assuming was not the highest priority for re-introduction.

Thanks for posting the review. The grey on the internal parts wasnt for cosmetics. It's actually Teflon coating to help slicken up the action, ease cleaning and prolong cleaning intervals. Also the hot set up is to install a 28 inch barrel, really improves the handling. Wish I got one of these when they were still available, great shooting clays gun.

Thank you for your comment. I had no idea about the teflon but certainly makes sense. We only received 30" models in this country but there are still a couple about. Crazy smooth to shoot. Kind regards, Matthew

My first ever semi-auto was a Remington 1187. So soft shooting, even with fairly spicy duck loads🦆🦆. Thanks for posting this Matt👍

I bought an 11-87 LC back in 1994, iv put probably 100k + shells through it and never replaced the o rings yet. Iv done the piston ring and several ejector claws however. Everything from 24g target loads to heavy duck loads, very few jams as-long as i kept It clean. Iv shot beside other 1100’s and 11-87’s that ate o rings every other round. 63 i believe it was introduced to replace the model 58.

Introduce 1963 .Mine is a late 70s. I really like the one your showing. I just stumble into a 26in 1100 barrel with a poly choke on line . So I bought it to shoot clay's as soon as it arrives.

Where can you get 1100/1187 parts? Piston rings, ejector claws? O rings easy. Use oem or else issues. What about LOP spacer shims for the stock?

Matt, the precursor of the Krieghoff 32/80 was the Remington 32, not the 3200. The 3200 was a much altered and later design from the 32.
