All of my grandaddy barlows, regardless of maker, tend to have a light backspring, which is to me, as you noted, a bit of a design choice shortcoming. I use my knives, and like a heavier degree of resistance to closure. It just makes them safer to use. Mybe I will have Gavin Margrate or Willem O'Kelly whip one up like that.
Mine came in mail today also. I think it looks great, but I think I'd rather it not even have a shield. Love the sawcut bone though!!! Great video. Best wishes
Nice vid thanks - first I've seen on this knife. I'll wait to see if there's a general GEC release on this pattern and perhaps try for one of those. Good to hear the pull's about right - my #97's is too weak and my #23s too strong.
Thank you for posting this! I just checked with SMKW, and to my utter disbelief, they still have them in stock. So I pressed all the "Buy" buttons :) I still don't understand how that happened, but as you say, the higher price must be the reason. The knife looks gorgeous, I look forward to receiving it. You have a nice day! With kind regards Thomas
Knife Center had these even though it was a SMKW exclusive. I called GEC to see it it was legit and they had no explanation. I went ahead and bought it from Knife Center since SMKW was sold out. I haven't received the knife yet but did get an order confirmation.
