Man… I bought almost this same shotgun at almost the same time you did. Has lasted me honorably ever since! Mine was 28” and back in the day I bought the 6 round tube ext. but it stuck out slightly so I thought I had to buy an extended choke (didn’t need to but I was just a kid). Awesome to see this. Such nostalgia. Thank you, sir.
I just bought this gun and I can't wait to shoot it. It's my first gun, the goal was to buy a shot gun I could use for everything. Skeet, duck, rabbit, deer, home defense and just fucking around it's glad to see that this gun seems like it'll do the job! Plus all the customization options. Yup definitely made a good purchase 👍
Im going to upgrade mine . Collapseing pistol grip stock and a red dot reflex sight and a banndalero sling . I've had min for almost 30 years . I've killed deer and turkey . Great shot gun .never have had a problem with ejection.
My first firearm was an 870 and the first shotgun I shot was also an 870. they have a superior quality and fell compared to the mossberg for me anyway. A lot of people say that it isn't made tho the old standards but for around 60 box at Brownells you can bring yours to the next level just with a van comp stainless follower, volquartsen extractor, van comp big speed safety, police carrier dog sping and a wolf magazine spring.
I could see that happening to some people maybe (the flap I mean), but I have not had any problems with it. Honestly, the 870 and the Mossberg 500 are almost the same gun (outside of one or two small things that need to be different for patient purposes), so I have trouble recommending one over the other. Both are equal in my book in every category. Thanks for the comment, make sure to check back for more videos.
Thanks for the comment. I love my 870, I did some skeet shooting with it last week, it did great and reminded me why I love this shot gun. If its allowed where you live, also consider a magazine tube extension along with the stock and forend change, makes it that much more useful. What stock and forend are you thinking about using?
I plan on upgrading mine as well. The only problem is, some things are freaking stupidly expensive. I can buy a whole tactical setup for $80. But if I wanna add a red dot or something, I have to pay $150+/- for a freaking rail attachment?! I mean come on!
Good vid brother. I just got a 870 express tbis week 2nd hand from a buddy of mine. It's in good shape and will be changing out the stock and forend pretty soon. Good luck on future vids.
Well he didnt lose me when he said rifle as it may be a rifle ( i havent finished listening yet so it may have a rifled barrel making it a rifle ;-) ) he lost me when he said the 870 and 500 were the gold standard of which shot guns are measured by...now that fucking cracked me up lmao
@xxTacticoolxx What kind of forend do you have? I've been searching for an aftermarket forend but cant find any that specifically say can fit the super magnum.
Hi xx Tacticoolxx Could you tell me which brand of forend you place as a sample in the video since it seems very good for the supermagnum. You must change or reform the fore tube to place it or it is drop in. Thank you and excellent video
Hi, thanks for the question. It's a Speedfeed III Forend. It didn't require any tools or modifications to the magazine tube or any other part of the shotgun.
I REALLY hope there's a way to modify a Streamlight TL Racker forend to fit on the Super Magnum. I don't need to be able to use 3.5" shells with it but I did less research than I should have and will have wasted several hundred dollars if it isn't possible
Wow, that's a lot for a shotgun. I honestly don't have any experience with the 887 Nitro Mag. However, I did some research on it and it seems to be an 870 with a polymer coating. Both the 870 and the 887 are winners in my book. If I were to pick one though, I would have to know more about how you are going to use it. Are you going to be using it around water or wet conditions regularly? Then go with the 887. Are you looking for a customizable shotgun with a lot of possibilities? Go 870.
I finally got one of these! Now I just have to get a marine magnum and Im set! Love this weapon. I have the 26' barrel and Im giving some serious thought to getting a ported barrel since they are so cheap at the moment. I can get one in a 28' barrel for 86 bucks+ 40 shipping. Does anyone else have a ported shotgun? and most importantly is it worth getting for trap and skeet shooting?
what fore end did you get. I cant find one that will work on the super mag and allow for the 6 shot side saddle. when you work the action does it eject properly and cycle in a new round?
I just found one of these at a pawn shop in my area used for $199.99. Decided to get it for the price I figured I couldn't go wrong. I've never been into shotguns whatsoever at all. Hopefully i did good here. Are these particular 870's prone to any problems that anybody knows of?
Sorry it took so long to get this to you. Here is the link to Brownells which is where I got mine. www.brownells.com/magazines/shotgun-magazines/magazine-tubes-amp-parts/shotgun-magazine-extension-prod4203.aspx. It really is a great tube extension that I have had absolutely no problems with an complements everywhere I go.
xxTacticoolxx very good info man!! i end up buying this gun, i had try the benelli supernova but in my book is shit!!! is like have pastic toy in hand!! i go upgrade this tube for the woods for bear lightfields slugs 3.5
Rc Gomes Glade to hear you are happy with the 870. Benelli shotguns always seemed over priced for me, it's just hard to beat a good pump action shotgun. Have fun bear hunting.
Love my 870 super mag, but prefer to shoot my mossberg 500. The flap covering the magazine tube will frustrate you if you are shooting for long periods, or in gloves, or with cold hands. The 870 is an outstanding hunting shotgun, not so much at the range target practicing. Only my opinion though.
lol, I take the tube extension off and block the mag when it's hunting season to comply with my states laws. Other than hunting season though, the mag extension is on and filled.
Hasn't locked up yet? Mine never has, however, four of my friends own different versions of the 870 and they all lock up frequently and will not eject a spent shell. big disappointment!
Actually the ejectors are the same on all models, (except for length, standard vs mag), it's the extractors that are different. MIM vs real steel and are much easier to replace. I've done a few of both. There are special rivet tools you need to stake the ejector rivets down.
