REVIEW: Remington 870 Express Super Magnum 

Bought one for $200. No regrets. It's insanely amazing.

This shotgun is a just a good all round gun period . Personally I am going to buy the combo version of this gun for all round versatility.

I paid 350 for mine because they have gone up a lot in my area since the bankruptcy. Also it's the only one I could find within 200 miles. I'm not even mad, I'm just glad to have it at this point.

870"s are GREAT!!!

I have one. It got it for 229 back in the day. Its a great gun. My 870 20 ga not so much, shells get stuck in the magazine throat.

I bought the 870 Express Magnum as a first time shotgun owner. I've Owned handguns majority of my life. Never owned a shotgun or a rifle. Good friend of mine sold me his for $75. Has some serious Patina but no pitting in the barrel, no detrimental rust. Old blue and some like rust discoloration. I cleaned up the wood really good, fresh linseed after a mineral spirit cleaning. Cleaned up the metal and all the trigger workings and such. Full breakdown. Put her back together and goodness she is a beauty. Real Walnut furniture, which totally makes me smile. Some minor scarring throughout the body but hey that's character. Couldn't be happier! Still haven't shot her yet but I know she's ready. Everything is sturdy, safety works, pin fires, and dummy shells eject. April of 1995 is what I've figured out the date of manufacture be.

I have the SuperMag with 24in. barrel, makes for a great truck gun. Not too long, not too short, but just right.

I wanted the black one to get cerokoted later on down the road, but settled with the camo patterned one. Bitchin shotgun imo, I upgraded the extractor and trashed the mims one and replaced the plastic tube follower. The 3.5" inch shells are quite a hoot to shoot, great for ducks, geese and turkeys.

I have been looking for a good all around gun that can shoot light load doves to late season pheasant, deer and still reach out to get that big Tom Turkey. I grew up with a single gun, a . 410, that I used for birds and deer and was looking for a multi- use shotgun. Thank you for making this video as its very informative. Can you fire super magnum 3" shells on a regular 870 express? Does the super magnum specification mean that it can accommodate the 3.5" shells in addition to the size shells too and that's the only difference?

My dad got me one as a first shotgun last Christmas hard to find then because Remington was out of Business but he got it

Just bought an 870, love it, I wonder what the difference is in magnum 3" reciever and super magnum? Just curious..

Have a 870 magnum, i must say it seems very well made and very reliable. Very easy to use, very easy to take apart and put back, accessories are also easy to fit, why bother with a more expensive british or Italian pump?

Question, I know it's been a while since you posted this, but I recently bought one of these. Can this gun shoot 2-3/4" shells reliably? I've heard that they can't perform as well with a 3.5" barrel. Thanks

Paid $250.00 for mine, with a mag extension, giving me 10+1 w/ 2 3/4" 00 full house shells. Sleeps next to me every night...no worries...

Didn’t know cabela’s had any turkey guns but I was wrong I came a hair at getting a black in a Remington 870 instead the next day later I got one in Camo 26 inch at Walmart

I have a standard 3" magnum 870. Can I barrel-swap with a 3-1/2 inch super magnum? or are the internals/slide different?

This might be a stupid question but I’m gonna ask it anyway. I currently have a 20 gauge 870 my dad got me. I plan to join the military when I’m 17 or 18 and I want to have a shotgun to keep in the armory to go hunting with. Does this cycle 2 3/4” shells good. I love deer and rabbit hunting and want to learn more kinds of hunting. I figured a 3.5” gun would be good to I could hunt anything. Does it cycle 2 3/4” loads good.

does it have a metal trigger guard ? i am up in the air over shotguns . my top 3 choices are remington 870 super mag , mossberg 500 , or weatherby PA-08 leaning toward the 870 bc of the shell diversity .

If you plan to hunt and use different chokes and loads, then get this great firearm. However, if you plan to transform it into a tactical firearm, skip it and go straight to the 870. Why? Because finding an aftermarket forend that works with the Express Super Magnum is impossible. Every model from Hogue to Choate to Magpul, etc. is built for the regular 870 and not one of them like overlapping the Express Super Magnum receiver.
