I recently got it in .177cal. I have to say, its a nice gun. Little heavy. But I am not the biggest lad tbh. Its powerful, I have shot about 400 pellets through it and its settled in nicely. My range is only 10yards, Its grouping the size of a 5p , pellet on pellet half of the time too. But that is with a Hawke AO mil dot scope instead the one that comes with it. It's a nice gun to get back into shooting with. It would definitely drop a rabbit easy

Hi There Richard and anyone else reading this, I've just found the channel and read the last few reviews I really like the format and presentation style. I'm looking at getting back into the sport after a 20 year gap and wow how things have changed, probably not going to be returning to hunting though since losing in a a leg in an accident, so maybe field target/target is the way forward so probably time to find a club that takes old f@rts, anyhow Sorry for Waffling On, Keep Up the Good Work 👍👍

Hi Richard, thankyou for a great review. These Remington air rifles look very similar to the HW80's, and not far off half the price. With great respect, I'd be very wary of buying one of these air rifles. When something is half the price, there's usually a good reason. I very much respect your view, and whatever you think, is good for me. You have vastly more experience than I do. Personally, although they look good, and they work for now, I'd pay more and go for something that's tested by generation's of people. Thankyou.
@Steve-Cross
@Steve-Cross Год назад
Remington are one of the oldest gun manufacturers. It obviously doesn’t have the quality of a HW80, but it certainly has the pedigree. The whole idea of a budget rifle, is to make it more affordable for new shooters. It is certainly good enough at 20 yards, to hone your shooting skills. The scopes on my HW 97, are twice the price of this whole package. That sort of puts it in perspective and makes it very good value for money. 😊

Hi. Thanks very much. To be honest, I've not shot the Tyrant but the Express is a great rifle for the money. As long as you set your expectations accordingly, it is plenty accurate out to 20/25 metres and powerful too.

A silencer on a springer can't do anything about the mechanical noise of the spring, but the one on the Remington does a pretty good job. Possibly the recording equipment didn't do it any favours.

I bought one of these in 177 UK, and the chrono was reading 15.4lbs! A friend later bought the same model, and his was reading 14.8 lbs! All my HW's come in between 11 and 11.10lbs. Be careful.

If you and your friend bought your rifles from a gun shop it has a responsibility to ensure they are within the legal limit. If you haven't already I suggest taking the rifles straight back.

The first thing I would do with that gun long before ever shooting it would be to remove the finish from that stock, then walnut stain and seal with tru-oil! It looks like a thick brown paint reminiscent of Chinese made rifles!

Hi i purchased this gun last week and i dryfired like 5 times before i read the manual.Did i caused any damage?
@airgunextra
@airgunextra 6 месяцев назад
Hmmn. Dry firing a springer is not recommended. The only way to tell if you have damaged anything is to see what it shoots like. If its accurate and the power is good (you'd need a chronograph to be absolutely sure) then I'd say you've got away with it. Fingers crossed...

Unfortunately a silencer won't do anything about mechanical noise. Having a few microphones close to the rifle doesn't help either!

Hello Richard, I was wondering how accurate this rifle is at 40 yards or more I'm looking at buying one very soon i currently have a Gamo Varmint Barricade and I'm looking for something with more weight and precision for target shooting and long shots, Do you think if shot right it would be able to do 1" groupings or less at 40 yards??
@airgunextra
@airgunextra 2 года назад
Hi Matt. I guess in theory the right answer is 'depends on how good a shot you are'. In reality, I think that one inch or less at 40 yards is a stretch for this rifle, good as it is. I wouldn't fancy my chances anyway...

I have heard that leaving a springer cocked for any length of time will damage the spring. But could someone please quantify this ? How long CAN you leave it cocked before damage results ? Does this mean that if you are hunting and have to sit waiting a long while for a shot with the rifle cocked you are damaging it ? And does the spring loose power during this period ? A clear reply from a knowledgable person would be hugely appreciated
@airgunextra
@airgunextra 2 года назад
Hi. It seems like leaving a springer cocked for anything longer than you need to would be a bad thing. The reality is quite different and you can leave a spring rifled cocked for hours with no detrimental effect. I wouldn't advocate leaving a springer, or any rifle for that matter, cocked and loaded when it doesn't need to be and if you don't anticipate an imminent shot, but for hunting purposes, cocking and loading a spring powered rifle to walk around with is 100% fine and won't damage the spring or reduce power output. I don't hunt with springers that often now, but back in the day I'd happily leaving my HW80 cocked for hours and hours. Its as powerful today as it was nearly 50 years ago. I hope that helps. Rich
