The year was 1902 and Remington decided to upgrade its 1893 single barrel No. 3 shotgun into an automatic ejector removable pin takedown masterpiece called the Remington Model No. 9 Rider Single Barrel. While Browning was buying tickets to Belgium to shop his Automatic Shotgun design to Fabrique Nationale, Remington was busy with dragging Marcellus Hartley out of his office and redesigning this Model 1893 shotgun using the Fay patents number US528507 and US528508.
