Had mine three years. Never cleaned it. Worked fine. Couple thousands rounds. Was filthy when I got around to it but was still working. Great gun. The piston above the hands kinda keep the gun swinging no matter how bad ya try and stop. Hit with it better than anything else I've tried and I've tried hundreds of guns.
love my V3 I bought it as my first semiauto and it is the first 12 gauge I have shot. I started out shooting shotguns late (20). I started skeet shooting with a 20 gauge mossberg 500 I bought. After shooting skeet about 2 months I bought a used walnut v3 and I absolutely love it. I don't have any issues with the gas system. I love how fast it is and the minimal amount of felt recoil. It recoils way less than my 20 gauge.
Great gun. To fix the lifter from catching your thumb nail, remove the trigger group and take a file and some fine sand paper and smooth off the tip of the lifter. I did mine and it loads as easy as my old 870. Take a bluing pen and touch it up. Good as new. Hasn’t pinched me since then. The stuff blowing out on first shots is residue in the gas system. I took mine apart brand new before first shots and there was a bunch of junk in the two gas tubes. Kinda looked like the paint they used on the barrel. Probably was. But it cleaned right out. I did find a mint condition 1187 Premier that I don’t believe was ever shot outside the factory. Still had little styrofoam balls in it from the original packaging. No wear marks inside either. I just hate loading them because of the release tab on the lifter. I’ve shot 1100s and 1187s since the 80s so the V3 is by far superior in my book. I have two V3s. LOL. I have the one you show here and a 26” barrel in Camo that I found used. I put wood furniture on it. The gas system is the same as Benelli uses on their M4. But they call it the ARGO system.
Those vents are on top are the gas operating system. One thing i love my gun. Inhave the camo and when i shoot mine i barely tell im shooting. The gas operating system is amazing.
The “cutoff” switch underneath is to allow the shooter to clear the loaded round without feeding another from the mag. Great if you need to switch to a different load ASAP.
I have 2 Remington 1100 one with an L receiver number made in 70 another one made in 1980 with an N number I bought a Remington V3 about a year-and-a-half ago he was made in 2017 the last of the production of them before they went out of business I agree with all the pros but I would like to add one I love the interchangeable chokes I wish my 11:00 had the barrel for that they don't make any of that stuff no more I originally got the V3 for my oldest son we love to shoot skeet and it has the same problem when you go to load a shell in it with your thumb I love my Remington shotguns I hope they will continue to make these guns they are awesome
What you describe is called a "blowback". It happened to me as well and my right eye was hurting me for a while. I sent it back to Remington and they replaced the barrel with their new double pistons barrel. I would advise you to do the same.
Is it me or do people just love the look of a Remington auto loading shot gun or what. I bet that gun will stay in your collection for awhile, i have only had my versa max for a little while and the first time i took it to shoot was in below freezing weather and snowing and it ran like a dream and the gun shot straight and i limited out on pheasants and chuker. I cant wait to take it dove and squirrel hunting.
Much respect coming from Irmo, SC, by way of my humble country roots of Chesterfield County. My dad has a V3, and he loves it like Peter loved the Lord. I need a 12 gauge badly and this will be my next firearm purchase. Thanks for helping in my research process with the informative and honest review. It was nice to hear your low country draw and see you enjoying some shooting. Keep on brotha!
Venture Designs Yeah I’m the same way. I killed Lord knows how many deer as a kid with 2/34 in 20 gauge #00 buckshot. I know down here in Alabama the only time a 3.5 in are used is turkey hunting. I bought a box of high dollar TSS or whatever there called 3.5 in turkey shot. Shot it one time to pattern it bout kicked my teeth out. The rest of the box is still in my toolbox.
Love my V3, had it for almost 3 years. Never got gas blast in the face, I've heard some say they had trouble that, but I never experienced that. It's well balanced, great trigger, very light recoil, and it's super reliable. I've gotta ton of rounds through mine, never let me down. My thumb doesn't seem to get pinched either. I got big paws , maybe that helps?
Bradley Parker LOL. Maybe a 1980s WingMaster, but there are TONs of crappy Remington guns out there that will let you down on a daily basis until you fix them. 1187s and the newer 870 magnums are the most frequent culprits. Again, easy to fix, but why is it that they need fixing out the box, brand new?
I got a 1187 a couple months ago and have had old ones and this new one preforms just as well in my opinion. Have one that is 20 years old and have the new one and they both cycle everything you put in them and shoot like a dream. You should pick up a new 1187 for sure I can vouch that the new ones are still good.
Man that thing will stack em in there at 40! It may be best you didn't have your camera, If your little girl was with you. RU-vid just looking for reasons to disable comments. Safest thing to do anymore is just keep the kids off RU-vid and that's sad. They can kiss my ass, I'm filming mine, they done got my comments lol! I'm sho ready for dove season to get here!
You can call Remington and they from what I've heard will send you a new follower for the magazine tube that's designed for competition shooting that doesnt have the v at the top to catch your thumb.
Well I own one of these I have the Woodstock model I bet I put between 10,000 and 15,000 shells through my gun I bought it in September 2017 earlier this year around March the camshaft for the rotating bolt busted after that many shells I have never put 3 inch magnum through my gun only two and three-quarter 7 1/2 shot 1200 foot velocity I stand by this gun 100% you put that many shells through shotgunI don’t care who makes it somethings going to break I still like this gun got a clean it once in a while other than that money well spent
Big Pensel's So do you still have your Remington V3? Cause I know you have your Maxus, A5 as well as your Benelli SBE3 but I notice that you didn't bring out your V3 so I wanted to know if you still had it or if you traded it in?
I have a problem with the shell carrier grabbing my thumb no matter what shotgun I use. That must be the pictures I seen on Facebook. Y'all tore them up.
For the thumbnail problem you could try using the side of your thumb almost like your quad loading I can’t wait to get mine Ima get the tactical vent rib version and buy an aftermarket 28” barrel so I have a nice all purpose field gun and an 18.5” with the oversized handle and bolt release and extended tube
I have the same shotgun only mine is the camo version and I do not notice at all catching my nails when I load. I agree that it is a very good shotgun the V3 Remington is a very low recoiling shotgun. This auto loading V3 is probably the best semi-auto shotgun I have ever owned.
really good video and review of the V3. Glad to hear you recovered from the break in. Just curious that now you have lost all that weight, will you go by "Little Pensel" now. Just kidding. Looking good man. Stay with it.
Wanting to get a V3 also but worried about the powder blowback bc I shoot left handed so hopefully isn't too bad. I'm right handed but left eye dominate so it's a pain in the ass finding a gun I like
My father reported his old truck stolen cops never found it until like two years later and it was in their possession the whole time it was abandoned on the side of the road and when he asked they said they never thought to look I. Their lot
The beretta kick off system works but not that good. I’ve shot 2 3/4 7/8 ounce (didn’t function) all the way up to 3 1/2 Inch 1 7/8 ounce loads and it’s not much different than my 1100.
Almost every automatic I've shot has throwed shrapnel or hot powder or whatever back in my face at some point...anything from an O.G. browning a5 to a Turkish made ATA venza...even happened w an inertia gun...the worst was my ATA tho it sent a hot ember of powder or something and burned me under the eye pretty good...i beleive its the lower quality shells bc it has only ever happend w cheap dove or target loads
Great video man and heck of a nice gun man always enjoy all of your videos, next step is getting you a nice gun safe that will keep them bastards steeling shit can't stand people that do that totally understand been there before
@@bigpenselsoutdoors9793 If you put a little tape in a u shape in the fore end where it meets the receiver it will solve the gas blowback if it does happen to come back. Had two of these one had the issue one didn't
