15th April 2023. Wont be long before the site leaves no evidence of where Redcar Blast Furnace was. The brick work in the stoves is phenomenal, and would have lasted decades more. Music: Chasing Daylight, by Scott Buckley. #fateggmedia
Amazing footage. It’s very sad to see this once amazing piece of kit like this. If I’m not mistaken, the section filmed at 1:00 minute in is the hearth of the furnace which went solid when they shut the furnace for the last time and didn’t tap the residual molten iron left behind?? Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.
Really pisses me off to see the power and might of the western nations be reduced to this . When we can no longer access Asian manufacturing then maybe some will realise what a huge mistake this is.
We are starting to pay a huge price for this now … it makes my blood boil! I wonder a couple of years subsidy whilst steel prices were suppressed( by China) and post Covid we would have been producing and making profit! Now everything we get we import !
You mean the Power station? Very difficult to fly round there, as thats where all the gulls and pigeons have moved too. Not worth losing a drone unfortunately
😮 there's not much left now. I must confess, I've not been along the Gare road since we'll before they brought the plant down - I really must get down and take a look.
