Ciao Grash, la scelta della pelle è molto personale e oltre che dalla qualità della batteria, dai legni, dalle misure, anche il genere influenza la scelta. Non avendo specificato bene ne il modello ne le misure del tuo drumset a occhio non mi sembra tu possegga una batteria professionale :) Per questo mi orienterei più verso le classiche Pin Stripe trasparenti che si adattano a moltissimi generi e batterie e, eventualmente, ad una coated emperor per rullante o se preferisci le sabbiate per un genere più soft (jazz o comunque acustico). Spero di esserti stato di aiuto. Ciao e continua a seguirci.

Just to clarify...all he is saying is that each head has different sound characteristics. He is only naming the type of drumhead & which drummer typically uses them. The sound of each head speaks for itself. Don't worry to much about what he is saying!

Amazing how so many different manufacturers toms were used and how there was really not much of a sound differential between all of the heads I liked the fact they were all tuned identically the same whether single ply or two ply heads

My favorites here are the Ambassador Renaissance and the Powerstroke 3. I recently put clear P3's on my Tom batters for the first time and I love them!

Of course all these differences change from room to room. In my 8' x10' practice room my toms sound much different with the same heads in different rooms of the house. Once youre on stage with mics its really down to a feel thing and how the heads react to the mic techniques. You can tune your toms perfect and some tech will put tape on your heads to make his job easier.

If he needs tape to do a proper mic setup, what you really need is a new sound tech that actually knows how to properly engineer the sound mix.

I personally like black dot or emperor heads. But power stroke 3 heads on the kicks are always nice. Or pinstripe heads on the kicks too. But all depends on sound,feel , room temperature, weather. But if you know how to tune your own kit it will sound great either way. Just down to personal preference , taste.

The only problem i have with this is 21 different types of tom .. 21 heads on 21 toms of all the same characteristics would have gave a better example of the sound you receive/hear

Andy the 21 toms where all exactly the same. The test would have been useless otherwise. As correctly specified by Paul Fuller we made a mistake in stating that all the drums where identical. We will soon remake the test.

andy mckie drum planet was wrong you're very correct about the difference in shell construction wood tonal charactistic and bearing edge theory and consistency between all the different companies 12" toms represented here.

It is November 2021 now... supplies of drum heads are low because of the lack (and +150% prices) of materials. So the only question for me right now is: when will we be able to attend music fairs and live concerts?? We managed to screw up the screw up... 🙏

Emperor clears are my go to. Durable, very open but if I want to dampen the sound I can preferably using moon jell. The most versatile drum head in my opinion since I like playing so many different genre's. I can get any sound I won't out of a clear emp. Extreme range✌

Coated white head just look better. Although the clear controlled sounds look great too. Clear heads just sound worse than coated and unless your entire kit is clear, they don't look very good.

Its about the best they could do in that setting but that video doesn't really show the differences very well. They all sound a lot more a like here that they do in person IMO

This shows that that's not a TON of difference between models... it's still a sheet of plastic over a cylinder of wood. I do appreciate it though. Ludwigs are still my favorite drum heads... based on durability, and ease of tuning.

Just a heads up for those who want to use the pinstripe heads on a later model (after 2016) Yamaha Stage Custom kit.... These heads will not fit these Yamaha drums.... They will however fit the Yamaha Rydeen but just barely... They don't sit flat on the Stage Customs at all , and Yes I tried more than one as well as other manufacturers heads which all fit the Stage Customs just fine.

@@aetsmbotas8820 I contacted Remo and obtained a swing around the maypole response from their representative concerning pinstripe heads (not very impressive).... I was never able to install the Pinstripe heads on my later (2016) stage custom kit. They fit fine on my Rydeen practice kit. I was able to get Remo coated heads to fit without issue. also Evans G2, and the heads from Drum Factory Direct (DfD). SInce the Pinstripes don't fit my Stage Custom and since Yamaha's shell construction process in its China factory is pretty much identical for all its drums, We will eventually hear others making the same statement.

Alejandro Saldana Structurally Italian and Spanish are the same. Many words are also the same. If you are fluent I’m either language it’s very easy to master the other in a year or less with dedicated study. However Spanish is a bit easier as Italian has many nuances Spanish does not.

Am I the only one bothered by his manhandling the toms, and just shoving his fingers into the head?! Beyond that good for what it is: an impromptu 'hey, here are all the heads. Must play all the heads!' And he said most of the names clear enough that I got it. Yes though, subtitles would help. One final thought, no love for the suede head? Just a tap or 2. That's the one I really wanted to hear!

Ciao @maverg purtroppo il test è stato improvvisato in fiera e, come ben saprai, in un ambiente molto caotico l'audio non può essere paragonabile a quello di uno studio... le sfumature non potranno mai emergere. Il video, poi, e di molti anni fa ma stiamo lavorando su un progetto che prevede un test simile da girare nei Planet Drum Studios. A quel punto promettiamo che faremo emergere ogni minima sfumatura. They are similar, because they share same root which is Latin. It's quite easy for a italian to learn Spanish or Portuguese, because they all share same root. Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. English and german on the other hand are quite familiar.

Lorenzo valčić Remo uses the best films made amd far superior to films used by other drum head manufacturers. I believe Remo made a deal with DuPont years ago. Some people claim Evans uses the same exact film but it’s not true. Tap a Ambassador Hazy and an Evans 300 side by side and it’s evident. Same goes for a G1 and an Ambassador.
