I thank you so very much for the kind words, and I thank you as well for watching, enjoying, and commenting and I sincerely wish you the best day you can possibly have :)
I think your misinterpreting what he's saying. He's saying what they're doing isn't revolutionary, it's not amazing. But it's good. Its competent, it does its job. At least that's how I took it
nah... compared to many emo revival bands they are doing new things. It's more tho in the musical arrangements. The percussive part in this song isn't seen in lots of these emo bands, the drum solo in "hunting for sport" i haven't seen any emo band do that which is honestly pretty cool, and just the way they groove overall makes them stand out. Some songs also sound more indie rock and some sound more emo so they definitely have a unique style that'll make them one of the standouts.
This probably wasn't the best song of theirs to start off with. Something like Yer Killin me or hunting for sport would've been my recommendations. They have really good instrumentals and they do a lot of technical stuff that you may enjoy
yer killin me has like 6 lines and then a 3 hour long guitar solo this is one of their best songs also with Strawberita, Eat Shit, and Hunting for Sport.
Diluted by Slipknot I recommend a lyric video because the song was so meaningful that after Corey, the lead singer, finished his part, the produce actually went in to comfort him. If not the Chorus speaks for itself.
I like what I see (this is my first vid of his) but I'd really like to know if he plays music... because as he says "perfectly competent guitar work" I wonder if he realizes the singer is playing the embellishments that he hears (live) (*yeah I realize it isn't hendrix level singing and playing*.) Maybe it's not unfamiliarity with music but maybe more with the band in general, but that is intricate guitar work considering live the singer is playing this and perfectly executing it.
I feel like he is really giving underwhelming praise for the tone and writing ability of the whole band. Definitely not any hendrix or gilmour level writing going on, but it's much more inventive than greta van fleet. I feel he's listening through aged ears that don't realize led zeppelin copies aren't so inventive and talented these days. GVF talent is pretty mediocre across the board besides the vocalist imo. They are emulating music that was only impressive for it's inventiveness... which means that they aren't inventive and technically led zep isn't so impressive... it's what they CREATED not how they played it.
@@williamroeben noted. I can appreciate that you gave it a chance, and was not sure whether you meant "as good" as greta van fleet talent wise. If it's a matter of preference can't fault you for liking what you like.
NearlySeniorCitizen Yetagamer maybe stick to dad rock, this new stuff is going over your head. It kind of makes sense that youd like greta van fleet though... theyre trying to make dad rock cool again

Was curious about your sources because when I looked it up I found this very mature response to the accusations that seemed very believable and that it was just a very complicated situations with misunderstandings on both sides of the party. Here it is www.reddit.com/r/poppunkers/comments/55wr5c/if_anyone_is_curious_about_whats_going_on_with/ would be curious if this is what you read to come to that conclusion
