Remote Viewer is the weekly series where we go to shows, shoot a song (preferably with multiple cameras) and share them with all of you. It’s pretty simple, and I hope you like it.
I was lucky enough to catch the majority of Hot Rod Circuit's little east coast tour last month, doing photography for each show and only missing the Saturday show in New York because the Steve Poponi benefit was the same night. But I caught 3 killer shows and a super fun in-store performance.
Since we're trying to push out as many two camera shoots as possible for Remote Viewer, we were down to just Sunday night when my daughter joined me back home in Philly. The funny thing about the Philly show is that Andy Jackson had no voice after going so hard in New York (the one show I missed!). You'll see him sing a little here, but when he talked there was almost nothing coming out. Jay Russell (and the crowd - and even Steve Soboslai for Punchline at one point) took over singing duties for the night and it was awesome. Such a unique and special show in its own way.
Lots more to come from the show and tour, but for now here's our little two camera edit of At Nature's Mercy.

I still remember the first time seeing HRC, I fell in love immediately! They’re probably the first band that comes to mind when you think of groups who started off with an amazing original sound, with rarely a mediocre song written, then without warning do a 180, becoming indistinguishable from the worst mainstream popular punk of the mid-late 90’s/MTV era… Does anyone know WTF happened? Did the well run dry? Was it strictly a business decision? I really hope that’s not the case, I just don’t understand why a band would purposely take a shot at a small chance of making it to the “big time”, when the threat of losing everything they’ve built up is the most likely outcome?! But it’s the thought of all the great music that wasn’t made that keeps me awake at night! I hate to be that guy (which is something I’ve been writing way too much lately… maybe I really like being that guy?) but I’d think that anyone searching for specific bands playing live would love to see the full sets, and think 1 song is a tease. Do you ever record whole shows?

I posted this in the description: “Andy Jackson had no voice after going so hard in New York (the one show I missed!).
