We have three very large very old staghorn ferns laying on the ground in our backyard under the brush of our yard. We will bring them back to their glory with the advice from this video.😊😊
I don't know why, but I laughed so hard when you grabbed the staple gun and the dog was laying on the cord. He was so comfy before that 😂. Poor baby had his peace disturbed.
Thank you, wonderful you showing us! I am in the UK and my stag horn is now about 10 years old but falling off a plastic pot it was put onto! will do exactly as you have shown. Another stag horn will live thanks to you
I love that! I have 3 huuuge staghorns that we’re my grandmothers and great grandmothers they’re so huge I didn’t know what to do with them anymore! This is fantastic! Thank you!
Thank you sooooo much! I just used this video to divide my staghorn from a tree to give as gifts. I really appreciate you (AND the camera man) recording and uploading this.
Thanks for sharing this information. We had to fell a big oak that had a large stag horn on it. So now I know how to save the stag horn. Best wishes from New Zealand.
very informative. We have two 30+ year old staghorn ferns that needs some TLC. After viewing this I think we can confidently clean them up to get two much nicer specimens. thanks!
This is called an Elkhorn which has the skinny fronds and the Staghorn has the broad founds which you can see mounted above the fence in the left background later in the video.
Hi, I just had a quick question. I have a staghorn fern which has a frond that is turning yellow, and it recently lost a frond a few weeks ago that had also turned yellow. I have it on an east facing window where it gets bright light, and I thought it was enjoying this location, because as soon as I moved it here it put out a new fertile frond, and within the past two weeks I noticed it putting out a new shield frond. These yellowing of fronds throws me off though; I'm a little confused. Any input would be greatly appreciated. The location I had it hung before was a good 8 ft. From a north east facing window which isn't all that bright. Thinking of trying it out in the bathroom which has a north eastish facing window. Thanks!
Wow, Amazing specimen! How old/ how long to get that large size?? Do you mind if I ask your location? This fern is obviously in ideal environment. Thank you for sharing...
how do you tell the right way up when there only the size of a 20c coin? (Australian coin)i want to mount mine but i dont want them to be upsidedown lol.
you are an artist. thank you for sharing your knowledge joey fernandez Macon oh, how do I get one that size. do you sell them? It appears you have a nursery. I would like to have one shipped to Macon GA 31204. let me know please, Joey
An elkhorn has narrow fronds which sprout for the centre of the plant. A staghorn has a large main cuplike centre from which the narrower leaves grow. The staghorn central "cup" wraps around the tree it is attached to. They look very different, thus are named differently. An elkhorn will not grow into a staghorn and vice versa.
