Good video... Hey was there anyway to block the air leak on the hub to were the fan we just stay on all the time? Herd there was a way. That way I can make it home & work on it there?
Thank you for the compliment my friend. Yes ! But only on some hubs. There are 2 to 3 bolt holes in some hubs that you can install bolts in that leave the fan running, as long as the motor is running of course. Note, not all hubs have this. At the time this happened to me, I was unaware of mine was this type. I’ve since learned it is. I’ve also replace the fan hub again exactly 1 year later. The bearings went bad. Company warranted the entire hub, however, I decided to do the rebuild myself to insure quality parts and proper installation. I wish I would have done that video as well.
Thank you for the kind comment. I’m so glad this has helped many people. I couldn’t find anything when i had to do it. So here we are. Best of luck on your adventure. Keep the shiny side up. God bless.
Yes, the fan wouldn’t allow cooling system wouldn’t function, and a/c compressor had to be evacuated to work again. Oddly enough. Other than that, that’s it for any symptoms for mine. But I do understand that what you mentioned can also happen. Thanks for watching, and God Bless you. Hope you get through it well.
I figured out it was easier to just take the, fan and fan shroud off first. Then take off the clutch. The Radiator wouldn't move out of the way enough, even with the brackets off. The wood trick really saved me, I just slid the whole unit out on that. Instead of man handling it out.
Feel you bro..I've got 3406b my hub just went out today...Peterbilt says my hub is obsolete! So I called these guys outta Minnesota, Kit Masters.. I got the upgraded hub though..I spent a lil for the engine temp..good video mane..
Once u get it out u can also put a kit in the hub for $417.00 as long as your pulleys aren't wore out. You will need a press to get the old bearings out of the hub but wrenches and torque sockets will get it apart and back together. I got my kit from Peterbilt so prices for kit may vary at other places
A year almost to the day the hub went bad again. I did the rebuild myself, the warranty covered everything. But it was a great repair. Should have done the video. Thanks bud. God Bless.
I appreciate you Don. I hope all is well. Good to be back. I’ll be getting back at the videos and some lives as I can. I love getting together on the lives so I can interact with y’all. Soon. Stay Blessed Brother
Good job James. It's unbelievable a shop would charge $5k for that! I am like you....not afraid to tackle a job to save money....I have never taken a car to a shop, or hired a home related contractor for anything ever....I'd rather give things to others with the money I save. Keep on truckin'! 👍
