00:06 Step 1 - Access the freehub body
Remove the wheel from the bike.
00:18 Step 2 - Dismantle The Bearing
Dismantle the hub bearing and remove the axle.
Pro Tip
If your 10mm hex key doesn’t provide enough leverage to unlock the freehub, you can turn it with a spanner.
00:32 Step 3 - Unscrew freehub body
Slide a 10mm hexagonal key into the hub from the right-hand side. Turn the key anti-clockwise to release the freehub mechanism from the rest of the hub.

Pro tip, if you have a 12mm one, and no key for it, a 3/8ths socket extension works perfect

Hi madegoodbikes...a 10mm doesn't fit my hub and doesn't seem to be a hex key? Looks like a spline shape inside,would you happen to know what that tool is? Any help would be great

Its a lot easier to put allen wrench( cheap plain one) in a vise if you have one. Turn wheel CCW. Its way easier because you have much more leverage. That bolt gets ultra tight.

i needed 11 mm hex, and a special hub remover tool. to get out the inner ring

If it's not 10mm is it safe to say you can't remove it?

Then you would have to measure the diameter and work out the circumference using the formula C= (3.14 x D) and find a suitable Allan key for removing the free hub.

I just Googled this and the newer hubs are 14mm and depending on the models some have 12mm.

I have an older Trek 7200 Multitrack. A 10 mm hex key is too small and a 12 mm key is too large. I don't have an 11 mm key but I suspect that it would be too large, too. The wheel is off the bike and I don't know what to do at this point.
