Remove a Tree Overhanging a House Without a Crane or Lift (2018) - Part 1 

Good on you for showing and explaining this, man. Good description also. The first 40 or so jobs I did, I always started with the pole saw on the ground (still do). 16 feet of reach, plus your height, can save a lot of trouble. Also, I've often worked from the roof, shed, whatever is the most efficient. I did a whole season with virtually no rigging (not necessary), and working by myself. Now I tie the limbs if I have to, and I work with another guy so it makes things way easier. Also, the pole saw in the tree helps a lot. Again, that reach really helps. I have a winch welded to my trailer that I use for the heavier rigging jobs. It's 4500 lbs so I attach it to the rigging rope, to the winch cable, and after the cut is made, my buddy lowers it with the remote. I like to use natural crotch rigging and little pinto pulleys for the smaller stuff. Cool to experiment with all that. This is a tough tree because it's like a million trees in one. Still, you don't need a crane and bucket truck and 12-man crew for every single job; just a way to get the tree down safely and efficiently. Being resourceful is key in this line of work. I just did an 19 tree job and had like 5 of these all around the house, I did the whole thing climbing, I never use a bucket or a crane. I’ve yet to find a tree I can’t take down by climbing it. It amazes me how often people use bucket trucks, just not necessary. Good video

My daughter has a live oak 4.5 feet thick at chest level. It has limbs reaching into 2 yards and over her house. These limbs are like trees themselves stretching 30 or 40 feet long. I don't know how in the world you could get it down without a crane but how much do you think it would cost to get it gone?

at 21:05. at the end of the white rope is the carabiner connecting to the green rope. the carabiner is side loaded instead of end loaded. keep an out for that and correct it before weighting the rope. should always only end load the carabiner.

Too bad the owners didn't want to pay for the boom truck they will be paying more for the labor and time it will take to set up all your safety rigging

Nice job young man. I myself have worked the tree service and logging industry for the past 25 years. The best advice I can give a young gentleman as yourself is just always take your time and don't let the ground guys or anyone rush you. Always be safe as well.
