“Don’t be afraid of eye creams, be afraid of your neighbors, they could be serial killers.” Of all the great advice I’ve heard on this channel, this could be the best
I have the same problem. Only solution is microneedling, it will make the skin thicker over time. You can of course get filler with your own fat or hyauloronic acid.
Thanks for the Video clip! Apologies for butting in, I would love your opinion. Have you ever tried - Parlandealey Forever Young Process (search on google)? It is an awesome one off product for learning what to eat to slow down your ageing process without the normal expense. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my buddy after many years got cool success with it.
Subscribed. I've had dark under eye circles all my life. I appreciate the eye cream real talk, under eye knowledge and the practical solutions instead of trying to push a $40+ eye cream that likely won't help.
If you had it all your life, even as a kid it is 100% genetic and has to do with your skin and bone structure! They have color-correcting creams if you don't want to wear makeup though.
I was born with dark circles , I’ve lived like one of Tim burton characters for my whole life !!! Months ago I decided to get soft fillers and they Changed my life ! the darkness didn’t completely go away but it’s 80% lighter and the Under Eye Hollows is no longer there . I don’t look tired anymore. Also I started to use natural sweet almond oil to moisturize my under eye area , it also helps. If you hate it , change it !
Keerthana Sukesh sorry I just saw your comment. the doctor told me that Filler isn’t permanent, also fillers absorption varies from person to person. Undereye filler lasts between nine months and a year . Some fullness might stick around for longer depending on your anatomy and how quickly filler dissolves in your body ,some even notice results for up to 2 years .
I’m so happy I saw this video you didn’t endorse any products just simply told viewers the truth may not be the answer we wanted but you were being honest and I truly thank you for that
I used to have this really heavy eye cream from shiseido and lord it was butter thick but i loved it because when i slapped it on i fell asleep instantly
My under eyes have fine lines under them cuz of genetics so when i put concealer on it doesn't look amazing, but I have dark circles mainly because of shadows due to my bone structure
Well I do rub my eyes a lot, when in the shower,or washing my face morning and night. And I don’t have a healthy sleep pattern. So maybe that’s why they aren’t going away?🤦🏽♀️😕
In some cases vitamin K applied topically can lighten dark circles and it also helps with spiders veins and broken capillaries. As you’ve said, genetics, sun exposure, allergies, lack of sleep, dehydrated skin, and the reduction of collagen with age and sun damage are the primary reasons for dark circles, but vitamin K may help to diminish dark circles if they’re related to weakened capillaries. Additionally, taking steps to increase the collagen production such as gentle micro needling and products containing actives (retinoids and AHAs) that are SPECIFICALLY MADE FOR THE EYE AREA may also improve the appearance of dark circles. Regular use of sunscreen (particularly mineral sunscreen near the eyes to avoid irritation and even take advantage of the light cast of zinc) along with color corrective concealer and strategically placed eye brightener are the fastest and, in some cases, the only way to improve the appearance of under eye dark circles.
I've had dark circles since I was about 12 or earlier. My doc gave me an allergy test, and it turns out I was allergic to A LOT of foods. I couldn't possibly cut them all out without being able to eat very little, so I just live with the dark circles. (I'm not SUPER allergic to anything that causes anaphylaxis or hives, just get dark circles).
This is such a late in the game comment but food allergies can darken your under eyes. It’s not a type of allergy we associate with skin. But my doctor said that one of the symptoms I had that made him suspect food allergies is how dark my under eyes were. I have stopped eating processed meat and my under eyes are now so much better.
I subscribed when I watched your video about why you won’t review expensive product, especially drunk elephant. I honestly don’t understand the hype behind it, like you said it’s mediocre for very expensive price. It really refreshing for a beauty influencer to say they don’t try products because they are so expensive. I’m blown away that you have a disclaimer saying that you are not a doctor or specialist. Telling people that you are just sharing your experience! From the couple of videos that I watched it’s really good to see that you take your time and research the things you talk about. Like this video I learned so much! I’m going to school for biochem and I want to be a cosmetic chemist. Most of the people I follow on youtube are dermatologist or biochemist. It finally good to see an skincare influencer doing the work and spread educational content. Keep up the awesome work! You deserve millions of subscribers!
I've been watching for a while (mostly listening while driving around running errands) and have been adapting what I've learned into my own routine. I have the complete opposite skin type from you (dry, easily irritated) but your explanations on different products and ingredients for all skin types have taught me what to look for to keep my complexion in check, and things have been looking good! Just wanted to say thank you 🙂
Did you try micro-needling and Carboxy treatments? I had unbelievable results with these and they are not damaging as fillers and other therapies out there. Also, I finally had the courage to use hydroquinone for around my eyes area, specially the area close to my nose, and my GOODNESS! These dark areas are fading! I had no idea that they could be just a pigment I thought that it looks like that because the skin is so thin and it's showing my veins and stuff beneath it. Since you are committed to your spf you might give that a try!
I must admit I do use a eye cream twice a day. Do I think it works probably not as well as I hope. But I'm just hoping to reduce the chance of bags under my eyes and maybe look a little bit younger.
William Haddon Let me HIGHLY recommend the Brickell Men's Restoring Eye Cream for under eye bags! Seriously a game changer - I went from extreme bags to leveled under eye surface...I bought it on amazon and saw results in 1.5 weeks. Applied once in the more and before bed.
James before i started watching your videos on facebook i had no skincare routine.. but i just started cleansing and moisturizing and i love my skin already! Thank you so much for teaching me about skin care and just how much it can change your skin. I feel more confident and happy!
This video is super informative and definitely realistic! No one wonder the eye cream I use has made a difference in my under eyes (not completely changed how I look under my eyes of course) but has given moisture to it and it looks healthier.
Never had dark under eyes until I had a colicky baby lol. I used to sleep between 10-12 hours a night [went to bed early, I've always slept like a stone, and worked later in the day, so I could sleep in]. Now I'm lucky to get 6 or 7 hours and my baby sleeps nights now haha. I've re-evaluated my skincare routine to my new mama needs and it's working much better.
I managed to find a sunscreen that doesn't sting eyes. La roche posay ultra sensitive eyes spf 50/30. Used it and it doesn't sting one bit. For anyone who's in the same boat as I was and couldn't find a sunscreen to use around the eyes. Its a little pricy for an all over sunscreen so I intend to only use it for around the eyes and a cheap and cheerful one for the face. This cost around £12 for a 50ml. Will probably last me a year so it does work out cheap as a little goes a long way.
I really love your videos and how honest and informed you are , you get straight to the point and say ur honest opinion about the product .... definitely i am gonna subscribe now Good job 👍👌👌
P.S. Smoking decreases the amount of Vitamin D in your skin blood & body. If you smoke, please take vitD3 supplements. Even if you take a multi. It's oil soluable, which means the enzymes break down best when taken with food-during a meal. If you dont, it's just your stomach acid breaking it down.. And this is why it will make you feel sick when taking a multi-vitamin without food. I know, because I am a smoker. & Ik it's hard to quit, so just try your best to take care of yourself whether you are smoking or not. ❤
Your skin colour is very similar to mine a mix of medium, tanned, a bit pink on the cheeks, green and brown purple in places with lots of pigmentation.
I wanted to see if you had any suggestions for dark puffy under eyes. Well, look at that! So many. Mine are due to Cigarette/smoke allergies that have now made me sensitive to products. I wear mascara maybe once a month. I do take allergy pills, but usually only when I’m exposed to it. But I actually can wake up with water blisters on my eyelids. I am going to try the Vaseline on the lashes to see if it helps trap the allergens. Pretty desperate to look normal and not constantly have people asking if I’m ok. :) Thanks for sharing you knowledge
I used to do the same when i was a child and a teen . Back then i had less dark circles ( light brown) . Now I’ve lots of dark circles and gradually it’s spreading to cheek/apple area
@@monar4145 the hyperpigmentation clinic treats issues like this. The rubbing and itching was due to eczema and once that is treated it leave dark circles behind, hence meaning the skin cells in that area become hyperactive and unstable and release a lot of melanin. This therefore explains the dark circles that u see after. The clinic bring the hyperactive skin back to normal and this gets rid of the dark circles
IONS LEGACY Thank- you so much for the reply & yess that definitely makes sense because I had eczema around my eyes due too excessive rubbing and the skin was peeling and scaly, leaving darkness behind... I will look into clinics that treat hyperpigmentation in the future but for now colour corrector and concealer seems to be my best friend :)
James could I use a collagen serum under my eyes, like the mizon one?

What if I already got milia in my under eye area? :((((( is there any product that could help with that? since it's a sensitive area I was afraid of just trying new stuff. something like COSRX AHA Whitehead Power Liquid may help? I love your channel btw, really helpful! :)
You mentioned puffy under eyes so I thought you'd explain that there are different ways to treat different undereye issues. But then you went back to dark circles, which is pigment based. :O I think puffiness is treated entirely different than treatment for hyperpigmentation under the eye. Not that the skin care companies would want us to know this.
Zo_Wolf237 n_n Sometimes it's genetics.. Are you a stomach or side sleeper? They say it helps to sleep on your back. Do you eat or drink a lot of sugary things? (This should be the first to go.) Sugar breaks down collagen in the body. (And sun exposure breaks down elastin fibers in your skin.)
Zo_Wolf237 n_n Drink a ton of water and look into a serum by Deciem. It's called the "Hylamide rx eyes" it's in the green bottle. This one has helped me. :) If all else fails, and it still bothers you as you are older, you can always get tear trough filler. (This is a more permanent, lasting option.)
Sun was the reason for me. I used to do suntanning quite often (in indoor machines). Even though i like tanning, My under eye area got really dark over time (moreso than the rest of my body). I started using sunscreen only on that area during indoor tanning and everything changed immediately.
In some cases (like me) it's because the thin skin around the eyes made blood vessel and flesh a little bit visible, so nothing would cure it except stuff like filler.
I have tried lots of creams plus 2 tear trough treatments with fillers. One cream I have found helpful is Acure Brightening Eye Contour Gel. Sorry I couldn’t upload a photo. The cream actually turns the skin sort of red for a while then fades and helps reduce the dark circles. Use carefully.
James Welsh the fillers work well, I’m glad your brother is happy with them. I’m older than you so after a couple of Voluma treatments in the cheeks, it’s almost time for the eye surgery. Anyway, give that cream a shot. I got it in the States. Thanks again for your great videos and wishing you every success.
My under eyes are dry but they refuse any cream because whenever i apply cream on them there ares bumps that look ugly pop up. How to hydrate them without having those bumps
James, that was a great video..the end was funny as hell... I’m still laughing.. I love this series... keep ‘em coming... now I’m stressing.. could my neighbor be a serial killer?
Ummmm I'm mixed and grew up with my Australian side, I've always thought I wasn't exfoliating enough in my 'corners'. Thank you for explaining why I'm darker in some places..... This is weirdly life changing in a small way..... Thank you. ❤️ x
i know you have a strong opinion on smoking but addiction is real and you could go about talking about it in a helpful compassionate way less discouraging and condescending .
I bought it and didn't expect much but for me it works and even under concealer it blends out well. I do use eye cream afterwards ofc and I only use it in the morning. Also, it can't really do much if I haven't had much sleep for over a week lol but it has helped me in many times I was lacking sleep (when I get dark circles they're purple/blueish) and also wearing a sunscreen (I use l'oreal posay's anthelios, the one that has a special formulation with no fragrance for sensitive eyes) helps a lot. Also TO's caffeine solution costs only 5/6 bucks so again even if it doesn't work you've just waited the money for a starbucks coffee so if you're curious go for it. Again I didn't expect it to do much but I've been using it for a bit more than three months and it helps a lot.
I have been using it for quite a long time and I have to say I have genetic dark circles (and also sinus problems and a lot of stuff I’m not even going to start rambling about :))) ) and quite puffy eyes, especially in the morning. I wake up with really puffy eyes and I can say that while it doesn’t really help with the dark circles, it can help speed up depuffiness. Don’t expect any wonders from it (like any other eye product), but I think it’s worth buying once and trying it since it’s pretty cheap. (English is not my first language, so sorry if I made any mistakes)
I used to use loreal men's eye cream and it would act like a concealer and lighten the area. Was pretty good imo because it didn't look unnatural. Too bad I have no idea where to purchase it because I had gotten it for free.
As I'm due to get married in less than a week I've been practicing make up looks having not really been a makeup user I've now got puffy eyes with putting it on n rubbing it off has taken its toll and owing to the fact I'm now 40 I've recently invested in some skin care products too. Note to self no more using makeup wipes thy make my eyes sore xx Elbow pits lol I call them elbow creases
I am using Ephrival eye cream for puffiness and it is really working! Not helping with dark circles tho. I have it because of chronic illnesses btw so for me it is extremely hard to get rid of it.
as usual on point ! and yes be scared of your neighbors they can be serial killers!!!!!lol I have had this problem since birth so this video was soooo helpful in every way! the skin around my eyes is a lot darker than the rest of my skin i don not know a time hen it has not been like this. basically i have deep set eyes,. I like the method of patting with finger will try that and yes I am finally going to subscribe! lol
Man, I used to have good eyes and then two years of insomnia ruined them. They're permanently sunken in and dark with veins that go all the way to the side of my friggin face. No amount of sleep helps now. It's so annoying:/ along with lines that didn't even exist two years ago. Ik it's not the end of the world but..
