That leaf spring must have never been in Minnesota

I usually just stick a few inches of the spring in muriatic acid for about ten minutes or so until everything is loose enough and then rinse well.

how do you put the new ones back in?

Easy way !! You can do it with a mini prees and WD40 and heat
