We try Bar Keepers Friend to remove rust from the brushed stainless slide on a Ruger 9mm Playlist for all of my rusted gun videos: • Gun Cleaning / Rust Re...
You have a good channel good show. I don't haven't to worry much about rust in the Desert. All of my 🔫 I've never seen rust on my stuff well one shotgun because is for ducks and around water a lot. Nothing like the Ruger P-series my favorite ever. So they do trust 🧐 all of mine are Stainless Steel. One thing rust is cancer ♋ if is there it will come back ⁉️ I've tried to get the rust of my shotgun but it just comes back. I need a Stainless Steel one for less rust. Even the water fall 🔫 is like getting rusty parts also. But my deer rifle Ruger Mark ‼️ All wether SS 300 win mag from the 90's has not rusted at all from rain or snow. My favorite P-85 and P-89 and P-100 for hunting. My favorite 🔫 to collect my first one P-85 DC SS. I'll keep waiting your show. Your the everyday Guy show. Keep up the good work.
Man I really appreciate that comment. I don’t do a lot of gun content anymore but might slip one in occasionally. I like anything Ruger. In my opinion they are the best affordable quality
Was curious did it change the finish on the stainless steel. I have some rust spots on my marlin 1895 sbl and I was thinking of using barkeepers friend but was scared that I might damage the finish. Thanks
There is another comment on here where I replied with a link to the spec sheet from Ruger. That is what I was going by when I made that statement. Thanks for pointing that out!
From what I have read, Ajax/Comet are bleach based products whereas bar keepers friend uses oxacylic acid which is better suited for stainless steel appliances/pans/pots/etc. I haven’t tried Ajax on a gun though so I couldn’t say if it would work the same or not....
True stainless will still rust. It's just alot more rust resistant than a blued finish. That's why you see alot of stainless guns in Alaska. The salt eats away finishes really fast. I've had really good luck with cerakoted finishes thus far
That's bad when you let a stainless steel rust. That discoloration spot looks like the beginning process of pitting.I own a Ruger P97 similar to your Ruger.
Thanks for commenting! Yes that gun has been stored away for probably 15 years and hardly gotten out, so not sure the time frame that the rust began or the event that caused it to start.
@@onthejline9328 Get a dehumidifier for your safe.I have a dehumidifier on my safes and no rust so far going 32 years now, also I wipe my firearms with an oily rag before and after handling them even the stainless steel guns get a wipe down.Even my knives get a wipe down.
