Thank you! Just removed my first spare tire and successfully changed it thanks to your help. Greatly appreciate you taking the time to educate others on this... couldn't have done it without you
Hello Rob and Michelle, Wow 4 hours to get the tire. got to love where it is placed I am sure that our kind of weather wasn't considered in the placement of the tire. Thanks for sharing how your fixing the problem. ❤️NonnaGrace
peggy here.. it would take me more then 4 hours lol. good pointer putting oil on it.. who'd think of it? i'm one of those ppl. andy know's im car/truck challenged. lol . great share rob.👍✔
Might pay to check on the spare tire! Mine was up so tight against the frame, the tire eventually lost all its air. Who knows how long it was flat…could have been years! (‘14 Silverado) The flat tire wouldn’t hold air because it was “formed” against the frame by force. Got it fixed but I can’t be the only one driving around with a flat spare.
Destruction Manual 🤣 Good Job! I've seen many a struggle over the spare under a truck. I couldn't even tell you where my spare is in my car now, lol. My Elantra didn't even have a spare! Can you believe a spare is actually OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT on some cars? (Thank God for AAA!)
I have no idea why chevy didnt put the spare in some kind of compartment like they used to in the tahoes and suburbans back in the day....that wheel is probably completely compromised and could be dangerous to drive on with that much rust
On a 2003 silverado ,rusty none of the tricks i found on here worked I popped the plastic guide away from the lift and used a long extension and removed the bolt holding the whole assembly and that worked.
I remember years ago I was backing out of my driveway and the cable broke on my spare 5 minutes later I would have been on the interstate my point is secure it with a ratchet strap as more insurance over time the cable will break and possibly kill someone 🙏🤔😃❤️✌️👍
Thanks for the video. It's not helping me with my 2006 Chevy Silverado utility bed. I've got the flat rear tire somewhat loose, but can't get the spare to lower. I've got the long rod into the lowering mechanism, but it ain't doin nuthin! 😐
There is a little hook like catch the might have to be turn or even pried to get ghe cable mechanism to release so that it will lower, that's one of the problems that I had on my 2005.
I just tried to do it and the thing is stuck so bad it’s not funny. Put wd 40 and other lubricants on it and nothing. Went hammer time on it also and didn’t move and inch. Thinking it’s never been removed and rusted to f*ck! Thinking about taking a torch to it. Awesome design Chevy/GM
