Remove yellow tannin water from your fish aquarium. Most of the time this happens from having driftwood or some sort of water inside your fish tank. Because what happens is the word leeches out this yellow colored water known as tannins. There’s only one way that’s easy to remove this from your water. I go through this technique in this video.

I boiled mine 3 times and soaked it for 2 days! It still managed to make my tank yellow! I know my fish love it! However, people keep asking if my tank is thirty 😭

You’re tellin me…. If i put a rather nimble piece of spider wood…. A week of changes… two days apart…. In basically 2 weeks that water will continue to get clearer by itself. I would like just one with an Otto for control(3gal tank)… i see all these videos with 1000gal tanks and a stump so I obviously have grandiose ideas.

Hello. I have yellow water from adding Fluval substrate without washing it first like an idiot. And have been doing water changes three times a week to try and get rid of it. Can you tell me if this is also tannin water? And how long it will take to clear up. Water changes don’t seem to be diluteing at all

So we don’t have any wood in our 36 gal tank but we have really yellow water. I am going to include a photo if possible, we have well water and that is what we are using for the tank, I don’t know what else to do to clear the water up, any help would be great

it is good water since it is from well, guys please understand clear water doesnt mean clean water vice versa.. if you have live plants and yellow water you are only helping your fish as a pet...And if u want your fish as a show piece ornament go to hell.

I’ve boiled my wood 5 times and let it soak for 24 hours. I put the wood in the tank and it’s still turning yellow… you think all I should do is water changed weekly?

I had my driftwood sitting in a cooler for almost three weeks. Constantly changed the water. Its been in my tank for about a week now. My fish are doing great. They love it. The shrimp are all over it. My water is still yellow. Should i worry? Nearly all of my fish (tetras and a pleco) come from waters with a lot of tannins, so i assume its ok

I have zero wood in my tank as well, and it's turning this yellow color somehow. It wont go away lol. Stuff is living in there, but damn does it look ugly and can't be optimal in the slightest, right? Shrimp and snails in mine. What's the deal?

I don't think the colour is the problem but if the ph change the tannins create are okay with the fish in the tank.

I know is my fault🙃 I didn't boil the Driftwood but then again the piece of Driftwood is 3x3 can't really find a pot big enough to shove it in .. I mean I rinsed it off multiple times😅... But the real question is how long will it take for water change and two filter to take out the tanning?🤔

Don't have any wood pieces, but I just planted some new plants and this color appeared about a week later. It's a two month tank, so I'm thinking it's still going through its cycle.

It’s not bad for fish and is in fact beneficial for most fishes such as betta fishes

Why would you remove tannins in your water? Besides the aesthetic look. I just leave it alone and it goes away or becomes less yellow after the ecosystem is more set.

I have a blackwater 20 tall. Double tail betta with 8 glowlight tetra. I put a fluval hob with some carbon I had laying around.... Turned my tank clear. Went back to the sponge and added fresh mopani the next day😂

Got a piece of driftwood I'm trying to put in my new beta tank setup but no matter how many times I've put it in boiling water it's showing no signs of slowing down, I'm using a sponge filter in the new tank and my only hang on back is needed for my smaller betta tank, not really wanting to use HOB filter on new tank so not sure how to keep my water from going brown once a week for possibly forever, I'm wanting to make it a slim to no water change tank, anyone know what I can do?

Hiya bud. I’ve just done a 4 week dark start and I’ve noticed that the water has gone yellow/brown from my spider wood. I’ve got no fish or plants yet. How many water changes will it take to rectify this issue please.

I've had woods before and never got tannins in, but once I've put the aquasoil and put some plants, tannins showed up

I’ve had my tank for some months now, I’ve done quite a few water changes in this time, water is still yellow, is this something you have to clear up in a weeks time? Or should this be clear already and I’m just having another problem, my fish/shrimp dug the sand down to the fertilizer, now I have pellets all over the bottom of the tank, is this a cause of the yellow water as well? Thanks for any info

your shrimps are digging down to the fertilizer which is then releasing tannins into the water.? Quick answer is to cap your substrate with heavier sand/gravel. However you should really suck all the fertilizer out of the tank and use something different.

Hey guys little tip if your seeing this! A fine sponge filter will easily clear up your water, just be careful when you remove the filter not to add any it to leak back in to the water column.

Only way to remove the yellow ish water is to Increase the PH LEVEL. Dirftwoods tend to make the ph level more acidic hence the yellow color, try adding some Seiryu stones to balance out the ph level as steiryu stones increase the ph level.

Hello, I have a problem because I wanted to make an aquarium with a great substrate, I added peat, but I did not expect such a strong explosion of tannins. the amount of tannins has not changed for half a year, after a week it is so yellow that nothing is visible. how to fix it? @MorePalmerAquatics
