Great video --dip stick in my boat was down in the tube and I didn't know what to do. Watched your video, went there on my lunch break and 5 minutes later I had the dipstick out....Thanks

Thank u very much because I put my screw in but the screw wouldn’t still pull it out so it looks like I’m gonna have to use a blowtorch like you

I usually just pop the tube off the motor. Good if you don't have a lift to. 👍👋🇨🇦 cheers!

Cool idea. I was thinking you would remove the dipstick tube first, then pull the dipstick with it. Then again, with the tight spaces inside engine, that might be easier said than done. Your method was clearly faster. Are oil dipstick lengths standardized? Or, do you just cut an old one down, then put punch marks in to indicate the full level?

Often times, the tube is rusted and it won’t come out. Or it will break if you try to pull it out. Dipstick lengths vary. Before draining the oil, I plunge the new one in. If it’s not registering properly, I’ll either mark the stick for the new full mark or I’ll shorten it at the handle so it reads correctly.

@@dheLLycocuq unfortunately my dipstick plastic part basically disintegrated and the dipstick is stuck in the tubing. Three broke screws, heat, WD-40 and 2 hours of attempting to remove the broken dipstick in my 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan.

@@danielfriend1207 if your not yet to get it out,dipstick has hole in the metal Part that you reach after loosing most of the yellow part , if your at that stage use a wire wrap around that hole and pull it off maybe it work s because that's where I was going to if I didn't get it off.

@@danielfriend1207 that yellow plastic casing has a hole in it if you reached the point where the plastic is disgranated you should be able to see it inside that plastic casing. Then its easier to pull it with wire or a hook 🪝 type of thing maybe a tool will help you to remove it by pulling it out for those who can't get it out with the screw method like he did, it might be helpful.

Why oh why do they build dipsticks with this crap-Plastic top end. NEVER did a metal dipstick ever seize like this but now it's all the time on all types of vehicles. Grrr... Thanks for sharing this tip - off to give my F150 a try now.
