Hi, thanks for the video, I have 300SEL 1990. Rear doors don't open wide only 30º, will removing these straps help, and won't damage the doors? They are holding the door and I think something broke inside there
Installing new straps will fix this issue. Usually the ball and / or springs fail and thus lock it up in position. Corrosion gets to the mechanisms eventually. Good luck!
Good day, I have the coupe version and am 'm trying to strip down the rear cabin. specifically the window winder that's in the left & right body sections. I just cant find a screw/bolt/nut that attaches the upper handle to the door card. I've prized off the small centre panel & the lower bolt on the handle but handle is still firmly attached at the top where there's a window switch.....Any ideas on how to remove that handle...
Sure. You are almost there. Remove the inner thin plastic cover behind the door open pull lever. Then take the little screw out that holds the chrome bezel around the pull lever in place. Then you can remove the window switch panel off and the upper handle screw becomes accessible. Here is the link to the exact time where the little screw is that holds the upper part shows up. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PGmkNFN3yYc.html
Rain water tends to get into the spring and ball mechanism over time and this causes for the ball to get stuck to the point of either breaking the spring or other parts of the mechanism. Replacement ones come with a plastic cover that prevent a lot of the water to get into the ball slide. When in doubt replace it before it locks up on you.
I love my car 1987 SDL I had me a 240 D it was so much easier to get the parts for that car it seems like it’s impossible to find anything for the 1987SDL very very hard to get parts my car is in great condition from the wood to the leather seats everything this is Abraham thank you for all your help I am thinking of selling the car because it is so hard to get the parts every time I call the answer is sorry we do not have these parts anymore and I have to go with some Chinese junk I need your advice tell me what to do Ralph I do not want to get rid of my car I love it but I’m not as mechanically inclined as you are you’re a boss when it comes to these carsPlease respond thank you Ralph
Hi Abraham. I am afraid that this conundrum is truly yours. Key is to start from a good substance - the most expensive Benz is a cheap one. W126 cars do need a bit of time and money if you do not buy a good and reliable example. The best of luck to you and I hope you will decide to keep it.
Thanks Ralph I’m going to decide to keep it and whatever comes down the road I guess I have to deal with it Attoe think you for all your input you’re a great guy talk to you soon Ralph keep the videos coming please😀😀👍
Hello Ralph. I just found a 1990 w124 car with cracked head. The car is like showroom inside and out. Do you know how hard it would be to convert it to diesel and work properly. I have a 1987 300d real low mile om603 car I can use for parts. Is it possible . Any ideas or c comments would be great. Thank you. Robert
Anything can be done. I personally would just fix the engine that is installed there. Converting it to Diesel is a royal pain in my opinion. The internet is full of videos of folks who have put all sorts of engines into their old Benzes.
