Operetta and her swirly scars remind me of my younger cousin who is a burn victim. She's beautiful and her scars are a part of her, but she's so self conscious because she has them absolutely all over. I think it would be amazing to turn Operetta's scars into something realistic like that; incorporate them into the makeover as a part of the doll's history. If I could make dolls I'd make one for every member of my family 😂

@jennienguyen7137 5 лет назад
Allyssa Alvarado telling your cousin she’s beautiful won’t be enough to convince her that she is. Help her to see that. Do a makeover with hair makeup, new outfit. Find a support group for burns victims so she can share and learn from others just like her. They will have tips on how to overcome, cope and live with scars. That will help build her self esteem up plus not feel isolated ,different and not belonging. Help her to find what’s she best in and pursue that instead of concentrating on the scars.
@softstoney
@softstoney 5 лет назад
@@jennienguyen7137 I understand that. Self love is a hard thing to achieve for anyone. She and her brother who is also a burn victim went to burn camp every summer as kids and now she goes as a councillor. She's a lot less self-conscious than she used to be, it's just a process of learning and accepting. But perhaps my wording was misleading: she is my younger cousin, but she is an incredible young woman who has excelled in gymnastics and works hard. She has an amazing partner who supports her, a baby, and a job while she attends college. Of course I'm there for her anytime she needs me, but she rarely needs me anymore. She has gotten to the point where she wears shorts and bikinis and crop tops. She excels at hair and makeup. I think if anything she's grown on her own far more than I could ever help her do.
@jennienguyen7137

Allyssa Alvarado wow ! it’s great to hear that she’s confident and successful with a happy family. When you said younger cousin, for some reason I see a teenager or younger girl. What about her brother? Is he well adjusted like his sister? Sad that they got burn when younger. They can be strong because of that.
@softstoney
@softstoney 5 лет назад
@@jennienguyen7137 Her brother also has a family of his own! He's a little more of a mess but thats not because of his scars lol They were caught in a house fire when he was 4 and she was 18 months old. So they've both lived with severe scarring for most of their lives. Our family made sure they were never treated any differently and they both went to burn camp every summer every year until they turned 18. I think it also helped that they went through it together so they weren't isolated, they had someone who knew how they felt.

Could you do the opposite? Make a doll with scars? As someone who lives with a skin condition (as well as other visible and invisible disabilities) scars - especially facial scars - are very stigmatising. In no way do I feel what you did was a problem (before anyone thinks I do) - it was clearly a technique test as much as anything and you made it very clear the doll's scars are a part of her, and this wasn't necessary (and the result, as always, was beautiful). But I think it would be nice to see ways in which artists could represent different disabilities, scars, looks that tend to either be ignored, swept under the carpet or used in negative ways (facial scars or other perceived "ugliness" being used as a tool to show someone is a villain, for example). Obviously, you don't have to - but it would be nice to see. Thanks as always for sharing your work with us!

Please, get some vinyl gloves to wear when using acetone and the nail polish remover. Your skin absorbs it and it can cause damage and eventually cancer. If you handle it rarely like someone doing their nails it’s ok to touch. But you touch it so often you need gloves, and without proper ventilation you should wear a mask. Please take care of yourself. This is why nail techs wear masks and never touch the chemicals. They use brushes, etc. You make such beautiful dolls. I’d hate to see you hurt by them.

@@nicolec4744 dude acetone is an extremely caustic material, its inhalation can lead to long term lung cancer or other problems. Just because you haven't heard of it in your personal life doesnt mean it's not a thing? Plus it's something that tends to develop over time so those people who dont have it now will most likely develope it later especially if they continue practice without proper gear

I love your artwork. It makes me so happy. I’d like to tell you something tangentially related. Its a moment of personal growth that I’m marginally proud of. The reason I got into Monster High when I was in middle school was because of Operetta. I was in love with the Phantom of the Opera and I looked for any and all available Phantom content. I’m just imagining my 12 year old self being completely horrified that anyone would remove her disfigurement. But 20 year old me is actually able to appreciate the work that you’re doing on this doll because you really are a very talented artist.

The end result was amazing as always. Which method was easier for you? Sanding or shrink and fill. Obviously this shrink method took longer, but since the soaking and drying happens by itself you can live in between.. while sanding requires you to be there. Anyway, well done and I always look forward to your videos and have been sharing them with my friends.

Its beautiful repaint. My younger sister who is two years younger than me I'm 30 she has s lot of scars on her back and legs they cover more than half her body due to an accident she had when she was younger. As much as I love the repaint I'd love to see a doll with scars and other concepts like no hair or patches of hair missing because some people pull out their hair or they loose it in patches. Maybe even vitiligo or some other skin condition that is equally as rare. I love the idea they're bringing dolls out with parts of their body amputated I can't wait to see if they come to a store near me. I absolutely love the clothes your mom makes for the dolls they're so beautifully made.

Your videos are my new addiction! I find them so relaxing. I would love to see you do some more iconic characters from film and TV like your stunning Marilyn doll. Lots of love from Devon in the UK. ❤️

I love when you wear this makeup effect, you look so elegant and beautiful. You could snap your fingers and be in a designer red carpet gown and all ready to go accept doll artist awards! hehe

You should make a bald doll, an amputee doll, a doll with vitiligo, a doll in a wheelchair, burn scars, acne/acne scars, surgery scars and or deformities, etc!

I was just watching some of your older videos. The progress you've made over the past year or so is insane. I'm so proud :')

I just needed this video to relax (I'm extra stressed about an exam) so thank you! I love your unique style and someday I'd like to try and make some dolls too, you are very inspiring ❤️

So pretty! I think Operetta would make a very good punk or character because of her scars shaped like Sol clef. Because in the West, everybody is used to tatoos, the new "rebel" and "kinky" thing to do is hot iron markings.
