WOW, this video deserves tons of likes because the technician explains everything perfectly. I just replaced my screen by following all the steps to the T and put everything back together perfectly. Thank you so much for this video and many more.
Hi there, thanks for contacting! I understand that you need to know where is write protection screw. I will do my best to assist you. The bios screw is located to the left of the fan, it can be recognized by the fact that the copper circle it sits on is split in half "( )" vs "O". The screw connects the two halves, making the bios unwriteable. Binu - Social Media Tech Support

HP; I've just been given a HP Chromebook 11 G8 EE. I'd like to remove the "write protect" and install a far larger SSD hdd. Presently; my Chromebook has only been given access to Google-approved products. Your response is a determining factor in my choice of laptop.
+forandon behalfof HP does not recommend upgrading or downgrading hardware parts or software that is bundled with the product as It may affect the manufacturer's warranty and performance, however, you could change the configuration at your own discretion.
@@HPSupport - I wish to UPGRADE a Hewlett Packard Chromebook REPLACING a NON-H.P. - part with a both superior quality AND performance part as well as making a Hewlett Packard - branded Chromebook usable. As both my wi-fi access is intermittent and storage on my Chromebook limited; perhaps you'd like to offer a suitable alternative option?
@@that-gamer-kod5619 - How about if I change out the ssd? So far; I've just heard conflicting answers that haven't been much use: Apparently; CBs have fans except they apparently don't, write-protect screws are in my CB except apparently haven't been used since 2017... Any idea who I should believe?
9:45 - 10:06 Did you use some sort of heat to loosen the glue/tape on the bezel? If we use a non-metallic spudger like in the video on the inside of the bezel/screen the screen is easily damaged. Not a problem when replacing a broken screen but if you are troubleshooting and need to remove the bezel and the screen is not already broken, using the spudger like in the video has a high likelihood of breaking the screen. The bezels are delicate as well. Putting undue pressure or bends in the bezel causes breaks. Any suggestions for these issues?
It is quite natural that whatever material referenced has become less supple over time in use under prolonged exposure to the heated internal enclosure. It would be the only material not subject to change under guidance, it seems :-)
@@jerrybell3rd632 - Thanks! I think I got the idea because apparently some versions of the Chromebook DO have a fan. Anyway, thanks again. Oh, and manualslib.com need a manual for this model - They've got just about every other PC/laptop/notebook manual under the sun.
