Love these birds and the noise they make. Had an experience some years ago with a young crow. I live just outside town so we have our fair share of birds, but I had 4 cats so none ever came near my yard, however one day after the cats were fed and they were cleaning themselves and I was cleaning the yard, I heard the unmistakable crow call which isn’t unusual although this one was young with his concerned parents flying above while he landed in my yard, all 4 cats prepared to pounce and I fended them of while little crow waited for my attention, I walked over and he never once flinched so I picked him up and checked him over, he had flown down to me so there was nothing wrong with his wings but when I checked inside his mouth it was jam packed with bread and was obviously having probs breathing and swallowing, so I was able to scoop out the bread and give him a few minutes to get his breathing back to normal and went outside my yard and put him on a tree, his parents btw we’re going crazy during all this but he eventually flew away none the worse, as for me I got one of those reduced to tears moments, he had chosen me even with all the cats around, he knew it was gonna be me that helped him and I felt and always will feel totally honoured he did 💓

I love crows they are so clever. I've made friends with two couples of carrion crow in my local area. Last summer i got the pleasure of watching three chicks grow as their parents would bring them to me every morning for monkey nuts and soggy bread. I've been observing how the older crows teach the young, what i saw blew my mind and made me realize how intelligent corvids are.

He/she was still juvenile when I found him, had just left the nest. He/she was also very injured with a bad leg, broken wing and a hole from his chest to his groin... but that also meant it didnt take to long for him to see i was trying to help, they are crazy smart!
@primrosedahlia9466
@primrosedahlia9466 4 года назад
@@williamtiemroth4345 so you took him to a vet and then took care of him until he was healthy enough to go back? Or did he never leave you after that? I have a little crow friend myself, but he's not this tame yet. He just recognize me when I'm in the city and flies after me and land 2 meters from me and walk over to me to get food. I think it's a young crow.
@williamtiemroth4345
@williamtiemroth4345 4 года назад
@@primrosedahlia9466 didnt take to the vet because they were going to euthanise him. i have released him though and he is now flying around in the town i found him. I fixed his wing as good as i could but it had already healed a bit wrong so he actually learnt to fly again but now with a droopy wing.
@primrosedahlia9466
@primrosedahlia9466 4 года назад
@@williamtiemroth4345 aaw. Poor thing. Well he looks happy now! It's always difficult when wild animals injure themselves. Especially here in Europe where it seems like there are no wildlife reserves that take care of injured or abused wild animals. Lots of vets around, but like you say, their solution is to euthanize
