This is an amazing patch! As I consider my first sequencer and flip flop between Muxlicer and Rene 2 I’m continually impressed at how deep and considered Rene is. Thank you for the knowledge!
Something weird that I see in this clip but I've noticed that is also happening with my Rene... on the first 4 step sequence of the clip, the furthest right knob is fully CCW but spits out a higher note than the rest of the knobs that are tuned to a higher voltage...why is that?
Was the voice recorded live, or was it voiced over. The reason I ask is I was wondering if you had this recording with the sythesised sounds only. Not that I have anything against your tuition demo, very far from it, but the sounds are just so beautiful it would be nice to have them in isolation. This is the sort of thing I would play on loop to drift off to sleep too. It really is an incredibly beautiful patch/patches you have created here.
+TheMonohub Thanks for the kind words! We don't have the source files archived. I based the patch for this video on the concepts I used for these Shared System recordings: walkerfarrell.bandcamp.com/album/scales The sounds are a little different but the compositional framework is similar. Hopefully they will be almost as enjoyable! Best Walker
+MAKEN0ISE Wow! They are beautiful scales. Not quite as hypnotic as what you got going on here, but still very beautiful. It reminds me of the Kluster recordings. Or any Conrad Schnitzler output. I love the complete disregard for traditional western melody.
+TheMonohub Thank you! Glad you enjoyed. I must say that although the melodies are non-linear, the feel and structure of the three pieces as a whole is greatly indebted to Erik Satie's "Trois Gymnopedies", which was a pillar of my childhood, and which I happened to play on the piano earlier on the night the recordings were made. +MAKEN0ISE It sure is a pity that the sound files are gone. I like this piece because I feel it channels the same kind of musical narrative beauty i find in Bach's sonatas & partitas for solo violin. Which are a pillar of my young adulthood :)
+MAKEN0ISE Isn't it amazing when you're randomly searching the www for X idea, and then after multiple 'you might also be interested in' type of links you end up discovering one of the most beautifully hypnotic person made sounds you have ever heard. I don't even know how I got here, but I'm so glad I did. Thanks to you Mr. W, I have already ordered an A-100 case and few eurorack modules to get off the ground, and plan to evolve into the more exotic modular world of guys like Make Noise as soon as I can afford it. Call me impulsive [which I am very not], but a sound as beautiful as this has to be explored. Thank you!!!
Just an update to say I bought René not long after my previous post. I was a bit daunted by reading the manual, but I installed it in my rack and it's very easy to jump in and start playing with it. It's very immediate, a bit like a guitar. In fact, I'd say it's better for the beginner to just try it than to understand exactly what you're doing. I also have the 0-Coast from this same company and they play very nicely together.
