I totally agree. Social media likes to portray community. But true community is your intimate circle.

I think you make great points, but we also have to think about the inverse. If the lanes of art were so designated in the past, it was almost aggressively against any new/diverse voices. I do miss dramas that were also blockbusters, but "having the same heroes" typically meant the same looking and sounding people. And we don't get someone like Spike Lee without filmmakers making avenues for them to circumvent that system. The system was probably more efficient and easier to understand, but it greatly limited what was allowed to be shown on a large scale. Scorsese talked about how him and his generation stood up for cinema, and as a result created companies and means of financing that allowed the Spike Lee's, Gale Ann Hurd's, and Kathleen Kennedy's of the world to find their way into an industry that didn't value them before. And with fewer gatekeepers, you have EVEN MORE diverse voices. It's an interesting time.

I really hope that as women gain more power in Hollywood, we’ll continue to see an increase in stories for women of all ages and as a result the idea that actresses need to stay looking young and beautiful will dissipate. I do think country culture comes into it. Some countries there isn’t so much of a fixation on appearance as America has.
