The anime does a wonderful job at explaining Joker's character and how he is. Not a perfect human being or a novice who doesn't know what he's doing, but a literal human trying to improve in order to do something he believes in.
@@alunbuss7877 Assuming the anime takes place in NG+ (pretty likely considering his Persona selection) dude probably goes into auto-pilot the second he sees a mask.
I played p3r so much that I thought that the gun ren pointed at pixie was an evoker and thought “she’s already a persona you can’t threaten her with that”
Two things that ever got me was Seth and the Shido fight. Seth because Joker canonically has him at one point to do J&C confidant, and Shido because it's beautiful bullying.

Fun thought, but the events of Ren and Akechi's interactions in the anime end up becoming the basis of a proper Confidant thread in Royal, which is nice to see. Though, a Royal anime is impossible if it just focuses on Sumi. Maybe mix in the story of Strikers...
Sumire is considered the canon option given how much the devs seem to want you to romance her in Royal. My pick on my first playthrough was Ann, and I considered Makoto on my second when she of all the girls invited me out during the beach trip.
How does he have less personality here than he does as a silent protagonist? 12:38 ....Okay, with some exceptions, but still! This anime was such a wasted opportunity.
Sounds like you are just filling in your own version of a silent protagonist, because from what I see - the anime is basically same thing that he says in the game + some extra bits (which is what they did with P4A too). It can't be less personality, quite the opposite, if not only the personality you are talking about is your own headcanon.

@@MinhLe19303 About the same, but their emotionless is kind of intentional. But not gonna lie, saying weird things with a straight face and monotone voice suits Yu more.
@@munchkintaker4263 In P5A, Ren sounds very monotonous and unemotive, making him a very empty character. The English dub changed this by making his voice more emotive, recontexturelize him as a rather awkward and dorky person. I was wondering if the same case happened with Yu. If that's true, I can understand in Yu's case, it was intentional and part of his character arc.
@@MinhLe19303 Whether it's Japanese or English voiceover, I don't see much difference in how they conveyed his emotions. Yu is still stoic for the most part, even though in the beginning it is indeed seems like he is uncomfortable. Then he becomes bolder in his actions and words ( he is not called a chad for nothing), still maintaining that stoic persona (except for some moments, of course).
