Stimming is kind of like "nervous ticks" - picking nails, tapping, shaking your leg - there's a number of ways it can be done

I was thinking more like when your arms and hands curl in towards your trunk. But that might be a totally different thing.

Stimming is repetition of self-calming behaviors. Rocking back & forth for example.

Thank you for doing these. Great input. I agree, sometimes a simple music track is all you need to sing the message you want to get across. This one made my heart break for Ren. What a sweet and gentle man. He is 23 or 24 here and looks 15...wow.

This was definitely the toughest one. I have a lot of practice keeping my emotions under control so had gotten through the previous ones just fine, but that image of his mum rubbing his feet and humming like when he was a little boy had tears rolling down my cheeks when I first watched the chapter. And then shortly after he goes “things were about to get a lot worse” 😰

Lyme disease can definitely cause neurological symptoms. The parasite can affect the brain, just like syphilis can if it goes untreated. I got bitten in September. Bullseye rash, tick still attached. I'd had a heavy duty steroid epidural injection in my cervical spine a few days before I found the tick, so I think that made it worse. I felt almost feverish, couldn't keep anything down, light was excruciating to my eyes, and I was weaker. I couldn't read anything, couldn't think, couldn't get the right words out. I can see how it could affect Ren so much more severely over time.

@@DadDaughtersandDrinks I got a short course of antibiotics and the dr isn't concerned that it was lyme at all, maybe bc I'm in Oklahoma, and not in New England. 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️ None of the new or worsening symptoms left completely. Dizzy every single minute of every day, nauseous every day, muscle spasms and twitches, pain in my shins, etc. But I might also have cervical myelopathy from spinal cord compression. And my dr ordered tests to rule out cancer and finally referred me to a neurologist, all of which are still pending 5 mos later. Lyme on top of it is super confusing, bc so many symptoms overlap. In the meantime, Ren is my companion through it. So thankful I get to live in his time. ❤

I sincerely hope it all works out for you! Agreed then you've got Ren and his story/music; like he says in Troubles, he wishes he had some of that.

@@DadDaughtersandDrinks I'm staying hopeful and immersing myself in a new hobby. Finally, I found something perfect for me, and I'm going to do it for as long as I can. That and other people's music. I hope I didn't bring you down, because I don't want to do that! 🤗

Nope, you didn't bring me down at all. In fact, the opposite. Everyone is either in the middle of an issue, coming out of one, or about to go into one. What matters is how we deal with it, and while I can't fault anyone for a negative response, I'm encouraged by people who are fighting the good fight and staying positive.
