I agree about “Shawshank Redemption” - it’s one of my favourite movies, and I nearly didn’t watch it because the beginning was so harrowing. Glad I did though.
Many years ago I was visiting my brother and somehow this movie came up and I said I hadn't seen it, and he couldn't believe it. He said "That's like saying you haven't seen the Usual Suspects", which I then said I also hadn't seen. He decided to immediately rectify that and went and rented (cuz this was that long ago) them, and they've been possibly my 2 favorite movies ever.
