REN___LOVE MUSIC PART 3......PRO GUITARIST REACTS • Ren - Love Music Part ... SOURCE VIDEO I'm a former recording artist, LA session guitarist and music teacher subscribe to @RenMakesMusic #ren #renreaction #cosmicmiko
Five of Ren's videos have the "TV Screen" frame: Money Game Part 2, French Song, Life is Funny, Dear God and Love Music Part 3. They were all released 3 years ago during the lockdown in the UK which makes me think that Ren created these videos himself. He is so clever and creative but isn't a great speller which also is a clue; after all he couldn't possibly be perfect at everything, could he? ☺. Yo!
Not sure if ill make this one but I'll try my best. Watching ren make love to his guitar and throw out melodies the way be does really captivating me. Nothing better than real raw passionate misic going on here ❤. Michael do you ever do streams where youre playing your own none reaction music too.? Id love to see some of your own. Many thanks ❤
I’ll look forward to the next one then! I have some past content up and set in playlists so you can hone in on what you prefer…..from 100% improvised live-looping to classical guitar pieces. I have been thinking about streaming on RU-vid….I used to stream on twitch.
yoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyo - yes! There's a part 1 and a part 2! Good catch on the unfriendly-to-horns key! Not being a guitar player, and not having a keyboard in the house, I haven't given any thought to the key of any of Ren's songs so it was cool that it was a bit of info that you automatically looked at. And - I can't even follow the syllables of some of his fast rapping when he puts the text on the screen! And his breath/tone *sustain* over that last line of singing is mind blowing. And YES to the play-out! That would be a cool "bit" for your videos, when the mood takes you. I mean, obviously it's something you're proficient with as a performing & studio guitarist, but I wouldn't want to make any statements that it would be something every single song you react to would inspire from you, or whatever.
Yoooooooo I need to see those ones too! It’s so fast….my mouth doesn’t work that quickly. 😆 I figure I’ll play out every now and then…..I’ve never been a studio musician per say. Though I’ve done studio work…more as a producer though….and I played on stuff I produced…..I was a touring session guitarist…..I joined bands or artists that had gigs or tours lined up….usually for short periods as most of them were newly signed artists that didn’t end up panning out.
@@michaelgoyettemusic well, I imagine being clear about your "creds" is important in terms of not presenting yourself as something you aren't, to other professional recording musician types - for the rest of us, sounds like "has studio musician experience" is a description that fits! But I appreciate the wanting to be transparent thing/whatever.
Phillip's wife Susan here. Nice to enjoy all the Yo's with you. Loved listening to your guitar playing at the beginning and end of this, added to the fun of this great song. Appreciated you stopping the video so we could catch all the tongue twisting words. Yo!
Yoyoyoyoyo! Yes there is a 1 & 2, it kind of builds up from 1 to 3. Fascinating. I’m sure if he was at a label someone would be stopping him from doing these sequences. No, you did money game. It’s done, move on. No you’ve done Love Music, you can’t redo it again but different you have to something new. But: no label means no person making rules. If he thinks later he should have said more or said it differently then he goes ahead.
This was a lot of fun, they should rerelease this, it has great commercial potential, I can easily hear this playing over the radio or whatever these kids listen to music on nowadays. Just rename it - Yo.
The tone of the horns sounds like they came from his Nord Keyboard workstation he has in one of his videos "Losing It" the Fisher retake. I might be wrong, but being an electronic musician who has been in pro audio for many years. It sound to me like he may have just played it himself and the horns are indeed a sampled stock sound on his Nord.
I love this bit of fun. I don’t mean simple. It’s quite complex musically and productively and lyrically. The influences are many and varied. That’s Ren for ya!😆 such a lad As always great reaction with ax in hand to add a bit of MG coolness😎😎😎Yoda
Should have done them in order 😞 the feel and hype of the Love Musics build up beautifully. To me this is like watching Jenny and screech and starting at violets tale 😔 it’s a musical story
I didn’t know there was a 1 and 2. No one asked for those ones…..I’m citing Mambo No 5 as my defense. 😆 Should I go to 1 now or continue going backwards now that I’m already at the end? How do I fix it? :)
@@michaelgoyettemusic tisk tisk 😂. I’ll let you off considering you’ve brought mambo no 5 into the conversation 😂. It’s Ren, so technically you need to do all his music ever released into world, ever….ever, ever. So I guess it doesn’t hurt to swing back to no 1&2. P.S Shame on whoever recommended only no3 FOR SHAME.
Hahaha. Canadian SNOW from back in the day with INFORMER. Technically that’s dance hall. It seems to fit too well to be new…..Sugar Ray kinda did that before they got big….regardless it’s dope!! :)
Having done something similar myself I'm betting Ren did the horns using horn samples, then eq'd them to sound lo-fi and probably added the vinyl noise too..+
@@michaelgoyettemusic Yeah, Google me if you want, I have a tune called Oshkosh that has a tenor sax solo done with a guitar interface that shows how it can be done. I like to get close to the right flow but it's fiddly to get the feel correct.
Yo! All the coolest dudes say Yo Mike 😎👊😁 it's possible Ren played it not knowing. He said he's not trainied in guitar. Just self taught. Great reaction 😎👊
Played what not knowing? The song is in a key (Em) that guitarists tend to gravitate to while horn players groan about. If that’s what you were referring to. Thanks 🙏
🪀🪀🪀 Michael!! I've been waiting to broach this subject with you; and since you mentioned your involvement with Ska, this is the perfect time. I've visited Belize a lot during my offshore oil & gas career (for ... erm ... banking reasons!!!), and fell in love with 'paranda' of the Garifuna music genre). So much so, that I actually made pilgrimages to see and chat with Paul Nabor before he died. He actually died on one of my visits before I got to his village. To the point: 'They' say Garifuna music is the direct root of Ska, and thence reggae. Now, I love music and all that, but I'm not a musician ... and I find it hard to make the connnection between Garifuna & Ska. Can you shed some light? Here is one of Paul Nabor's more popular songs: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wTRgdLjmPjo.html . I would love it if you could somehow explain how it is so in laymans terms.
That’s a great question….that sounds closer to a Socca rhythm to me….I’m not an authority on Ska but I think I heard Bob Marley say they were listening to American R&B on AM radio and because the reception was so bad, they mistakenly perceived the rhythm that way…..but the way the would’ve had to use to fill the gaps would’ve come from something already familiar to them….I really don’t know…might be a good question for chatgpt! :)
@@michaelgoyettemusic Well, the original 'Trinni's' that escaped Spanish enslavement and ventured to the British 'safe zones' most certainly had that same awe of the Spanish guitar, and recent memories of the West African music to make their own hybrid blend (Socca), but Garifuna was a distinct hybrid of the Spanish guitar and African beats. Still, I can't bridge that gap to Ska. I've not heard that Socca is a root of Ska, but the locals in Belize insist that ska/reggae were born of paranda.
