56 here... same thing! Been playing guitar 40 plus years, in 100 plus bands, and haven't seen Anyine like him!!! Everything about him is unique, extraordinary!!! Please... do More Ren! He don't have any "Bad" videos... if he's in it... trust the stranger on the interwebs... it's worth reacting too!!!
Thanks for the reaction...oh yea.."Bard-Core" as he termed it...Ren is always surprising and amazing.... For a true taste of his "Island" flair.... look out for his live mashuup of "I Shot the Sheriff/Road To Zion/Hip Hop" with his former band The Big Push (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uSeCuR51rek.html)✌
More than likely, Jenny and Screech ended up in the "System" as their mother had died but also their father (Stevie) ended up in prison for killing Violet. They didn't know each other as they were raised by separate families. Jenny had the same trait/response as her mom when confronted by violence (freezing up/going quiet) and Screech was as violent as his dad (Stevie).
The neighbours DID come out and listen, someone yelled at them to shut the fk up, another commented on another channel that she was lucky enough to see some of it. Accent-- the uk has a sizable afro Caribbean community and the accent you hear is very common among city kids of all colours. I love it🇬🇧💙
Ren's dad plays medieval music on the Lyre and storytelling and you can hear that wandering minstrel/ bard style a lot with Ren. Incredibly talented guy,he has made a lot of fun stuff as well.
You might need to see some other sides of Ren. He is an excellent rapper, I'm not into rap but I will listen to him rapping and I am sure you will also. But I want to suggest his work with The Big Push. They did a lot of busking, street performers and excellent of course. Go with I Shot the Sherrif/Road to Zion/Hip Hop and Wade in the Water/Nina Simone/Trouble So Hard. Gives you a more fun side that I know you will love.
Although these two pieces you have listened to so far show Ren's storytelling abilities, it is important to keep in mind that he is, first and foremost, a singer/songwriter and for that reason I would suggest you try one of his actual songs "Murderer", "Suicide", "Troubles", "Genesis". The following are from his time with his group The Big Push; "Swan Song", "Precious" and "Wade in the Water/Nina Simone/Trouble So Hard" are all definitely worth a few minutes of your time.
As far as the phone call, when Screech was unable to find refuge with his mate Patrick, he called up his girlfriend and pretended he just wanted to come over because he missed her. Of course, he really was looking for a place to lay low until the police weren't around, which is why he became so angry out of desperation when she said she was "busy."
It's a story of intergenerational violence. Jenny had the same personality as her mother, Violet, i.e. quiet, and Screech adopted his father Stevie's violent personality. With their mother dead and father in prison, or on the run, they would have been put up for adoption and probably spilt up and adopted by different families not knowing they had a twin. In Jenny's tale Ren mentions that despite walking that street a thousand times 'she felt there was something in the air, a divine intuition making her aware' which is a precursor to them being twins and maybe experiencing that 'twin intuition' for the first time and not knowing what it was. It could have been a factor in both of their behaviours at the fateful moment of meeting.
I laughed when you speculated that Jenny's Tale wasn't filmed on a set. Until very recently, Ren had virtually no money to make his videos. The most expensive of these 3, Violet's Tale, had a budget of 50 pounds. (Ren's sitting on a toddler's bed, the IV bag is really an enema bag, and the 'hospital room' location is actually the bicycle storage room of a friend's apartment building.) Amazing what you can do with a little money and GALACTIC LEVEL talent.
he wrote the first 2 were close together the third on he did year later that's crazy to have that in his head for a yr.. i think his new songs he's putting out there is another trilogy. another great reaction
There's so much to recommend, but I'm thinking bittersweet symphony or his band the big push An Englishman in New York , if you like rap- genesis, losing it, if you want to cry, freckled angels . So have at it
I did enjoy the reaction but he made it all about him... like his point of view was the channel. She is lovely and lets him do is bit. All the best with your channel you are both nice people.... to a point.
There is this weird little video stuttering that's happening with your camera (looks like little mini jump cuts), yet it not affecting the video you are reacting to. Any idea what that could be?
