This was fillmed in Calgary--same for the original. What is way cool is that when the camera finally pans to the tower at the very end, the lights around the edge turn green. Very nice.

He was doing a "podcast" / posts on socials about how he was feeling, his diagnosis, his pain... and one day a stem cell doctor in LA reached out to him and offered him a $25,000 treatment, and it's what started making him feel better. #hope

There is a video on Ren Not Ren where Ren is shown on the table during the stem cell treatment operation. the idea is to pull out fat cells from a form of liposuction. Imagine a skinny no fat Ren on the table with virtually no fat in his body.

The self harm incident was once and was trying to express the inexpressible pain and loss of self. He went 7 years ill before he found a doctor in Belgium that diagnosed the Lyme disease. By that time, his body, brain, joints and organs were all damaged and he is allergic to 95% of all foods because he has MCAS which was triggered by the antibiotics that he was put on. This disease has no cure. He will be dealing with these things for life. BTW: REN says he has about a thousand songs on his hard drive from those years in his bedroom. He is saying that his SOUL heard the music for the first time after coming back to life after the stem cell treatment. Beauty was the word he used to describe that gift of soul . He feels music is his gift to the world and life allowed him back into his purpose.

The stem cell transfer saved his life. He was on deaths door. His body was deteriorating from the autoimmune disease that blew up from the Lymes disease gone crazy. He fought for years and no one could figure out why he was slowly dying. His mental health was the least of his concerns. A fecal cell transplant caused an allergic reaction and he went into full blown psychosis from that. I never heard of another artist go through what he went through. His problem was unique. I've watched years worth of videos and information and he only gave hints what he went through. (Missing - Chapter 1-8) was just written a month ago and this song summed it up. All his fans heard stuff about him and his many diseases that plagued him for the first time with his details and time lines. When he returned to the land of the living he could enjoy music again and the passion was sparked again. You keep talking about his mental health and you heard it all before.....this is nothing to do with that, he is speaking on Chronic illness and diseases.
@KidVisionReacts
@KidVisionReacts 3 месяца назад
I agree! All of that is true, but I think you misunderstood me. He mentions in the song how his physical health had a great effect on his mental health and when he got the Stem Cell treatment, his physical health improve while in turn improved his mental health allowing for him to focus on his love for music!
@kellyt5341
@kellyt5341 3 месяца назад
@@KidVisionReacts That sounds correct. He is an advocate for Chronic disease/illnesses. Which plagues him and millions. Like you mentioned there are many other "artists" that are doing the mental health thing. Not sure how much that has helped out, they don't seem to be going any slower on handing out big pharma pills. Oh well, like Ren said more understanding and compassion is a start.

@@KidVisionReacts not to nitpick, but what I think my fellow RENegades are trying to convey is that prior to getting Lyme disease, Ren didn't suffer with any real semblance of mental health issues. He was kinda shy and dorky in his personal social interactions (and what teenage kid doesn't at some point), but never had 'mental health' issues. As someone who experienced severe, prolonged *pain* after a seriously traumatic bicycle v. Coca-Cola delivery truck accident, I can attest to the frustration I believe many in the comments are feeling, insofar that it is difficult I suppose for those who (as Ren would say) "walk in the light" to understand that pain-induced psychosis has really _nothing_ to do with 'mental health'. It's not an inherent issue with the presynaptic firing of neurons requiring serotonin reuptake inhibitors, nor a disease such as schizophrenia whose manifestation depends largely on preselected genetic markers. It's not a melancholic tendency to get weepy during the winter months as cyclical depression reemerges like clockwork. It is simply the brain's inability to rationalize, tolerate, process, and attempt to evade the omnipresent feeling of incessant, inescapable, immutable, indescribable PAIN. I liken it to what torture victims experience.. for instance, have you ever heard the soul-gutting screams of someone burning alive? Along with the physical torment there is an underlying confusion and pleading to the wailing as the mind tries to make sense of what the body is experiencing, to no avail, in those brief moments before death takes them. Now imagine that the sweet relief of death doesn't come..the pain continues, and so does the mind's frantic attempts to do whatever it can to return the body to homeostasis, but there is no recourse, no way to rationalize such mechanized suffering, no purpose driven goal to achieve to find a resolution to the agony, no nefariously grinning devil to cajole by dangling souls...it is from this place in which the mind is at the utter mercy of the body, a body that is solely at the mercy of the pain, in which the pain knows no mercy.. it is from this struggle to comprehend what one is experiencing, to address the mind's question of "Why?" to which there is no answer.. it is in this space where rational thought and compromise, the traditioal go-tos toward improving one's situation, become impotent, and the bedraggled scraps of consciousness that remain struggle to piece together basic motor functions, all the while mindful of the need to muffle the sounds of one's own insides screaming. In lieu of that kind of perpetual agony, the brain quite simply self-destructs, melts under degree of brevity in that moment. One does not 'feel' sad.. or 'happy'..or 'lonely'. One _only_ knows Pain. And believe me, there is a difference.

A couple people have misunderstood what I was saying there. I brought up a point that wasn't mentioned in the song, but is very much prevalent. I was saying that all the issues with his physical health must've had an effect on his mental health. Thats why when he talked about the Stem Cell treatment working, I mentioned that his improvement with his physical health is a large reason why he saw his love for music grow (because he was in a better mental state).

There is a cool video where Ren develops the underlying music from the original sample. Also, stem cell research has kind of fallen off it seems. Initially it was purported to be the next big thing but then panned for failure. I think it comes down to the fact it can work for some but not everyone. For Ren it worked. But then he is still healing from the injury the bacterial infection put his body through.

You know Ren had Lyme disease, right? Which severely complicated any mental health issues because 1) he was misdiagnosed for many years and prescribed mental meds for physical issues, 2) Lyme disease attacks the CNS. He did music well before his illness, in fact was signed with a label when he got sick. P.S UK isn't very snowy, but he's in Calgary I believe.

Well said! Although in Ren’s case, I think the infections also had a direct impact on his neural circuitry. In his Missing series he described how a course of antibiotics really helped improve his mental condition, but none of his doctors had recognized his need for the antibiotics. He had done the research himself and convinced a doctor to prescribe them for another supposed illness.
@ratmackay
@ratmackay 3 месяца назад
When looking at Ren in general you need to assume that all talk of illness refers to actual PHYSICAL illness...as the mental illness is secondary complications from the physical problems/resulting from receiving treatment for conditions that he did NOT have while receiving no treatment for the things he did. Essentially this entire thing was like you were yet another one of Ren's doctors who ignored his physical body and focused solely on the manifestation of symptoms and decided it was all mental. I don't say any of this to be a dick...but the info is out there and readily available...he has taken the time out of his life to do interviews on the topic... he's navigated his PTSD to put it out there for us to hear and understand...please make use of those resources to get the full picture so you aren't reading between the lines and speaking on something you don't actually understand. And, no, he isn't crediting a deity. He's said repeatedly that he is not a believer...he forgives a deity that he had blamed...but he's not crediting one with ANYTHING.

I think I probably had many of the initial reactions to your video that others did, but as I continued to watch the video it dawned on me that you weren't saying you weren't finding anything of value in the song - you liked the song, but the ways you were expressing your thoughts were worded in ways that came across as being dismissive and unimpressed with it. "I've heard all this before" (you're not annoyed that Ren's rapping about being sick again, you're just saying that you know Ren has been very sick for a long time and has had to fight his way back to as much health as he has now) "nothing to break down here" (you said this so early in the video that I think you only meant the same thing as above, and it's unfortunate that you reached for the words "break down" to express that because there's actually plenty to break down, so it sounded dismissive af) ... those two are probably what started the whole snowball rolling, but there are a number of other examples where I thought "I don't think he meant to say x, he just expressed what he wanted to say in a way that's gonna make people think he doesn't think this song is very good." Anyway. I especially enjoyed that you showed clips of you watching the acoustic version after reacting to the studio recording - it's always so cool to watch people react to the acoustic version of a song in the same video (or in a separate video done close on the heels of the first reaction so it's fresh in their minds as a comparison to what Ren chose to change up/to show that he can pull it all off live). And I always appreciate it when a reactor takes the time to go find the music (or movie/TV show/meme) that they've recognized in the song or whatever. See ya for the next one, whenever that is!

From what I have read by others, Ren does say he had mental issues from before he became sick with Lyme disease, but most of the mental issues he is dealing with in his music is related to doctors misdiagnosing his Lyme disease for seven years. Lyme disease eats away at your body, nervous system, and ultimately your brain. On top of that, they were prescribing medication to deal with all of his issues as if they were from mental illness, not a physical illness. Before the stem cell treatment he was often bound to his bedroom and had given up his dream of music. If nobody mentioned this, he was signed with Sony right as his symptoms started showing up. He was unable to complete his album before the contract expired. Both parties agreed to just end the contract (as Ren was in no condition to do anything in the studio). Sony later agreed to allow Ren to use some of the songs he recorded for that album on his first album "freckled Angels". The stem cell treatment did help him a lot, but he also says he overestimated it and pushed his body too hard busking and playing with The Big Push. So, he is not as healthy as he might have been, but he just had too much pent up after thinking he was done. And even with the stem cell treatment, the amount of treatment he goes through on a weekly basis is pretty significant. He has some videos showing what his treatments are like.
