The Warning is a once in a generation phenomenon. I flew down from Portland Oregon with my daughter to see them live over 2 months ago in Tijuana where they started with Disciple. Ale’s bass kicked me in the chest and knocked me over, then Pau beat me over the head with her drums and then Dany finished me off by slaying me with her guitar and vocals. Once you go down The Warning rabbit hole there's no way out, like Black Holes (which is one of my favorite songs of theirs).

Wow! Loved your thoughtful reaction to this awesome song. I think Pau's little dance was a nod to the Japanese culture. I liked the video "Take on Me" by Aha in the 80s (which won an award) and the production of this video is just as outstanding. These young ladies are still evolving and have a bright future ahead of them. EDIT: In their live commentary just prior to the premiere, they said this song came about because their producer, Anton, repeatedly used the phrase, "That's sick!" for describing something he liked. They thought it was funny and Dany exclaimed, "Hey, we can write a song about that".

Great reaction! The video is so full of contradictions… scream the word „Silence“, Pau behaves girlish whilst singing about violence… awesome! The smashed fly will stay dead forever… 😆🤣 The riff is great, it will be a banger live! I will be used to the bass sound, it’s deeper, as you say, no obvious clear bass lines, but it suits this song fine! And HYCAD is coming, another banger, I hope it’s published before I‘ll see them in April… thanks, greetings from Germany 👍⚡️🤘

Genius Lyrics states: The song’s message is about someone who views life as being dull and feels like they’re just killing time. In response to this, they would rather feel sick and live in regret than be subject to the monotony that is rotting their life away. The fly in the official music video is a common symbol for decay. They kill the fly near the end because they don’t want to continue rotting away.

And they hate fly's, there is a video of them telling Rudy not to let the fly's in the room and they tell their mom to kill the fly's with the "chancla" Its so funny hearing Pau say to her mom taka,taka,taka,taka,taka,and pointing were the fly was at she sounded like a machine gun! haaha. They were in Boston performing at the time and it was hot and humid.

Hey Ken! LTNS. Glad to see you've been keeping busy and making the rest of TWA look like slackers. LOL. The sculpture looks great! As someone with little to no artistic talent, it looks amazing! I am jealous you got to see them play Sick and HYCAD. I saw them a couple weeks later in Cancun and they didn't play them. 8-( Hopefully we will cross paths again, like we did in Tampa at the TW show. Can't wait to see your finished sculpture! Rock On!

You mentioned Pau using half time so well - seems to me that she often uses it to open up space in the low end for Ale (and Dany with the octave on the guitar) to do their unison lines with real clarity

I laughed when you talked about their outfits. The AARP Warning fans certainly get weird when people mention their outfits, as if people don't wear outfits to make a statement. Let's face it, you can observe and appreciate how people dress and look without being a freakin' pervert.

How the girls dress is one of the reasons I appreciate them so much, they don't wear skimpy outfits showing off everything. Their outfits are stylish, modern, elegant and conservative to a degree, they aren't using their bodies to sell themselves, they let the music do that for them. Although I must admit in this video the placement of the stars on Ale's top was a little in your face, but hey it's fun. I don't think I would have as much respect for them as I do if they wore string bikinis or this strips of cloth across their chest barely covering anything. It is this refusal to flaunt themselves or gyrate overtly and the lack of twerking that I respect and admire.

@@Amaranthine1000 The fact that they are attractive females draws in a lot of views. people only stay if they like the music or they become engaged with TW's huge online presence, which is almost like a reality show. And you're certainly right, they don't use their sexuality much at all, but it is creeping in a little as they get older. And that's fine. They are attractive and they are adults.

They posted a survey on their Patreon asking which song people wanted, HYCAD for 70%. My guess is that they planned to save the one with most votes for later to keep TWA interested and waiting for the next (HYCAD) song. Can't be mad at them for playing the marketing game, I want them to do well, I just hope it does not take too long.

Definitely. Especially visible in the footage of them playing on stage. There's spots where the dark parts are faded and streaky, like it was done on a sketchy printer. The monochrome look is definitely from 80s punk art.

I hope and believe that he will do a grittier production for HYCAD. I just hope he makes Ale's bass clearer and more aggressive and I really hope they had Ale sing her lines at the end when Dany is riffing vocally rather than Dany doing them like they did on previous cds.

Love the song but I think I would rather hear Dany's unfiltered voice. Pau's little bit with the hearts was very anime. Bet she loved that. Ale's bass was kinda lost. I saw a video where the bass and drum tracks were separated out and it sounded like she and Pau were locked in without much embellishment from the bass.

As you can tell by my reaction, I agree with everything you said. The one where the guy broke out the tracks really pointed out how fuzzy things were. I would love a mix from the person who did the Teatro Metropolitan concert when they do it live. I bet that would melt our faces. I like the song and it gets better with each listen. It is pretty damn heavy.

Great review once again KLaw. I agree with you that when i first saw this video i was reminded of A-HA. But, What makes the girls great is that they continue to tap into the 70's/80's rock/punk sound keeping Gen X happy and yet infuse a touch of pop into their sound to make their music relevant today(keeping the newer generations happy). I'm glad you noticed the anime vibe Pau was giving off. When I watched it for the first time I noticed that and I'm like "That is so Pau." Cause she and the others are super into anime and Japanese vibes. Also, I figure the director just looking at them for some of those shots and being like "ok, I just need you to be sweet, funny, and having a good time" while the rest of the song is about hating life 😂

The director is Ruddy (the manager) It was filmed and produced by their Videographer Ivan (you see him in a lot of their web stuff Pau calls him skinny boy).

Rudy has definitely been the best find of their career from every angle possible. He truly is family to them now and it is great they got someone who saw them as someone to nurture rather than an opportunity for himself. Their videographer has also really professionalized and stepped up their presentation game.

I missed your reactions, they always give a good point of view, they are precise and accurate. Certainly a different sound but no less great, they keep progressing, keep being them, constantly bombarding you with new stuff that always leaves you wondering if it's the new direction. But I think that's what they want to express, to stop being monotonous, to have fun and entertain as many people as possible. Some loved the video, others not so much but all agree that their music and sound is brutal for only 3 pieces.

I'm happy to see that the major majority have really loved the new song and video. I think More laid the groundwork for it to usher in a different sound and the live performances of More let people know that, even though the production is a little more slick now on the studio end, it will step up to another level live. I can appreciate both for what they are. ( I still wanted more Ale bass cutting through but that's just preference)

Yes, ah-ha's "Take On Me" from 1984 has a similar animation style. I agree about the Pau "girlie part", it sends to message not to take what we are saying seriously. It is lyrically a tricky song with the "give me violence" parts, which generally speaking is not a great message when taken out of context. I had mixed reactions on first listen to the song, much like More. I am not a fan of this production aesthetic, but it is very catchy song. I like S!ick more than HYCAD, not that HYCAD is bad.

To their credit the ladies are champions of mental health to the point that not only do they write about it but they appear on a public service announcements on US television promoting it (a wonderful thing). Do you think they had any conversations about repeatedly proclaiming "Give me violence" in a song and how this could impact someone struggling with mental health issues? I am hoping the answer is yes they did think about it. I still enjoy the song, but my point is merely it may have given them some pause.

@@bigfan007 I am sure they did discuss it, and they used it anyway. I like that decision because I don't subscribe to the idea that art is to blame for anything. What impact could that line possibly have on someone who is struggling with mental health issues? I'm wondering how far as we to police art and language. If someone is mentally ill, you have no idea what will adversely affect them. The line "give me violence" is not any more dangerous than "Knockin' me out with her American thighs"

It's actually part of an entire statue I have been working on for awhile. I finally have all the pieces complete and am going to be painting 3 of them this week in whit clothes, black clothes and a red leather look to go with the new cd coming out. Keep an eye open for a video of me painting them and you will be able to see the finished product.

I love the song and video but do not like the sound production at all. Ale's bass is not there at all and is totally lost in the mix and the snare is really shallow except during the intro. The overall mix sounds really muddy and this type of production quickly dates itself. I hope the new album isn't like this because I will probably not listen much.

It's pretty unusual for songs on an album to not have the same overall sound. There might be some difference in the mix, but the songs are still ment to feel as an unit. So expect the rest of the new songs to sound like More/Sick regarding mix/production. To me it sounds like an very generic trendy commercial "radio" sound. An very compressed massive flood of sounds, stuffed with computer generated effects. Not something that will help them stand out as new and "unique". Sounding very different in some way are still an solid road to success in music. In modern times it have worked for names like Royal Blood, Billie Eilish, GVF, Polyphia or Dry Cleaning

I wonder if all of the sounds that sound like computer generated effects are made with guitar as they were on More. They said there were no synths and all sounds came from their instruments albeit using effects as is always the case.

Yeah this one doesn't make the top 20 for me.. I don't like the snare drum parts, and really missing the sound of the bass and the toms... And the vocals seem overprocessed or something. I'm not a musician or have any musical understanding but it just doesn't sound clean and clear to me. Hopefully I like it better 🎉when it's live. Was really disappointed when I heard David Bendith was not involved in this album.😢

I think it will age well once it is played live more and we get clearer recordings where we can really hear the lacking elements an the crowd is yelling Sick! with them. I really liked David's recordings as well and use him as a reference for my own mixing and mastering. I will not Bow is still one of my all-time favorite mixes.
